2nd and 3rd That

I concur with (surprisingly) both Jon and Rudy on this one. We all don't like our jobs particularly, we all need money, we all have to work. Last I heard, unemployment in our glorious country was 6% or something like that, which does not bode well for finding a new job! As far as tech companies go, Cisco is the only one that has gone on record as saying that the tech slump of the past years is over, they said this right before reporting losses last quarter, which also does not bode well for finding a job in the tech field. Your call, you know your life and your finances and your job and your ability to get a new one better than all of us put together, but I think we all feel the same way about jumping off the deep end with no floatation device.

If you are scared of getting fired and want to quit, don't. If you are in love with some vacation hiking girl and think everything will be fine if you quit, it won't (unless she is RICH RICH RICH). If you hate your job and feel that it is going nowhere and feel the only way out is to quit, don't. You should throw your line out into the water and start fishing for more work. It NEVER hurts to look, nor to have a plan to fall back on. And if nothing else, if you are SURE you are quitting your job one way or another and are not going to be looking for any reference from your boss in the future (which it looks like you might not be), dick around at work for a while while you look elsewhere, take the paycheck, don't work, and get a job some where else.

Wow. How longwinded and repetitive and unhelpful.

Don't QUIT!
