thanks erick- i'll check out the leauge! I swear sports fanatics are bigger geeks and gamers or computer nerds. These "cool guys" at work know WAY TOO MANY facts and names and stats for sports - freakish!

OMG

I highly recommend The Hedge Knight graphic novel. It's fuckin' amazing! I'm about halfway thru it. It's based on a short story he wrote for a collection awhile back. It's set 100 years before the 1st Fire n Ice book and it's simply kick-assington! The art is cool - doesn't blow me away or anything, but its more than adequate. The story though is tits, and its very cool to see a lot of the things from the books visualized (mainly all the different crests and emblems.) There's also a lot of characters in it that are referred to in the books - "historical figures." Oh man, its a good read! And it's not spoilers-stylee - I think he wrote the story before the 3rd book anyways - Gotta catch em all guys!

Sick is Teh Suck

You can still join the pick em league, and if you are interested you can use the sign in for The Placeholders and use them for your team. I think the login is: elric_placeholder and the pw: littlegirl. <-- inside joke with RDub and myself, it's not what you think! So, feel free to play as them! They got the highest draft pick in P. Holmes! The draft is rigged!

oops - i took too long to join any of those leauges huh - i've been really sick all week and i couldnt sit through the one page sign up sheet for yahoo - i was that sick - ugh - hate being sick. well, just signed up for yahooz, and i guess i missedf the cutoff. sorry - but thanks for the invite!

i'm getting better now, but im still like only 60-70% goodness

hey art - good luck with the baby-madness!

Edge is el Hombre!

Mr. James is a fantasy stud RB. In my "other" fantasy league (16 teams) and a live draft, he was my #1 pick. He had a crappy first week point-wise, but he DID rack up like 142 yards which is impressive. Considering that he had three fumbles all of last YEAR, I think we can say having two fumbles in one game is an abberation.

Generally speaking, running backs are the work horses of any fantasy football team. If you dont have two studs and at least one very good-to-stud RB on your team, odds are not good that you'll be doing much of anything.

Comparatively, it's hard to find a QB that will out-produce another QB by such a significant margin as to warrant a top-shelf status. Culpepper is up there, but just baaaarely not quite to Mr. James' status and Culpepper is only really sniffing the upper eschelon because he's got Randy Moss (who is a much better value in fantasy football!)

With so few teams in our league, there's a ton of quality players still hanging out there on the free agent list.
undead... you say?

An all undead team would be better. I can get skeletons, mummies and liches as well as a coach that can revive my guys at half time! With these LIVE jokers, they can't do crap. Owell.

Another few great finds: I have the lowest ranking defense. Yay! 28th and 30th with the most yardage allowed. sigh. I get to play The action team next week, and they look mighty formidable, also the placeholders and Oriental rugs looks good too. I will get a good Ass trouncing next week.

Hmmmm...

Alright, I'm in like Flynn. Took me a while to find out where to sign up for the pick 'em action. Yeehaa.

Johnny look at the bright side, at least you didnt end up with any dead or incarcerated players. Besides we all know that Eric, the NFL genius, rigged the draft by hacking into Yahoo and changing the order of the picks and configuring his drafting bot to pick up the good players we didnt draft.

D>M>
That draft is rigged! I call BS!

The computer draft passed up Dante culpepper as a 3rd round draft pick and gave me D mcallister and E james instead??? I may not be an NFL fan, but looking at their stats, D mcallister is having problems scoring and E james is a old hasbeen. Hasn't done well since 1999 and 2000. Probably replaced by another RB. Seriously, there is a problem with the Yahoo ranking system. That sucks for me. Man, if only I knew anything about football, I'd do the draft.

BTW..

Counterpoint to the 9/11 conspiracy flash animation:

Pentagon 757 Evidence

Best,

O-Rugs
The Draft is In!

The Placeholders end up with everyone's favorite star player, P. Holmes! What a waste...

Anyway, the draft is complete, now we all just need to learn WTF with the NFL!

Dante Culpepper (SP?) rules all yo sorry azz QB's, including that cracker ass country boy Manning!

Also, I gets to represent SDSU with Marshall Faulk at RB! Hooray for me!

Hooray Beer!

Now everyone join the PICK EM LEAGUE AND WE WILL BE COOL!

Animated GIF goodness:

These three little animated gif images satisfy all my primal needs. It's like internet heroin, I think.. I could watch these for hours and feel happy!

(LOL)

Best,

~O-ree-ental Rugs.

Edit: Weird. why are the images so chunky and unsmooth on the blog whereas they are smooth elsewhere? Did I not use the correct 1337 programming code to make them work right? =/

Edit #2: Weirdness, take two. Now, everything is a-rockin' nice and smooth like. Dunno! The mysteries of the computer-universe at work.

Baby clothes, baby formula, baby crib...

Those baby monitors. Baby shopping ech.... I don't even like to shop for my own clothes. Mostly still wearing my 80's style t-shirts from GAP and banana republic, you know, with the animal nature pictures. Nonethess, good for you art. I guess step 1 for me is to actually find the right woman to hump... or hump the woman on my right? heh

Jon: I'm free on Freeday and Sun-day. Saturday though, I might be going to a friends house warming party to house warm.

Botswana Beefalogger

Baby due date has been pegged at the 27th since back in.. February I think? But, the doctor says she's gone "head down" since a week or two ago which means that it could, in theory, happen at any given minute. She was scheduled to work through tomorrow and then begin her maternity leave, but I told her last night to screw the last two days and just stay home to relax and take it easy. She's having discomfort some more this morning, but the occurrences are still over 10-15 minutes apart and not getting closer together (yet). So, even if she IS in labor, she's not close enough together to get the vehicle loaded up and head down to the birthing center.

Dunno, man.. dunno.. it is a bit surreal to think I'll be a dad here within a week or so. But, to be honest, I'm really looking forward to it and we've been prepping for this for a long time now. Hell, when she went off the pill, we figured it would probably take at least 4-6 months of humping to get pregnant (what with all the horror stories you hear about people being unable to get preggo even when TRYING to do so).. nope! Took about 1 month. (LOL) Well, at least we know all the plumbing works on both sides of the fence. I guess after all those years of sending the troops charging up that hill, only to be cut down by chemical weapons by the millions.. when the enemy was relieved of their deadly defenses, the boys charged that hill with a vengence!

Hehe..

Late,

~Cap'n O.

I win

Art, you must be all in knots. Damn that is crazy. That's crazy that you are going to have a rug rat real soon. Man. I still feel too young to have kids.

In other news. That nice 2 month swing shift job I had going for the past few days is put on hold for two and a half weeks. Rule. Some of the guys were saying the last "two week" break lasted from Feburary to April. Great. I can't seem to get a break. Oh well, back to the job hunt again.

Elrock, I was able to join one of the leagues, but not the other yesterday. I'll try it again tomarrow morning after I get up.

Suck It Trebek

EDIT: Jon, I will be around Friday. Saturday I am working my last day for 2 1/2 weeks. I start at 8am and I dont know when I will be done. I hope I will be done by mid-eve, but no guarantees. Sunday I will most likely be fee as well. Wee. I wish I could be more specific.

Wednesday, September 15, 2004

Whew, close call, Art! When's the baby actually due? My poor mom... personally, I was two weeks late and my sister was really late as well. In retrospect, this was an obvious foreshadowing of our tendencies to procrastinate.

Aaron & Johnny: So, I'm definitely driving up there on Friday to check out a couple of apartments. Any chance we could all grab dinner this weekend? Preferably in the city itself? Not that Fremont isn't lovely, but it would be cool to do something in the actual metropolitan area. For one thing, we could buy way trendier shoes and handbags.

Eric--I found the linksys password and the router now forwards the port to my Mac's static IP. I think. Maybe we can try firing up another test server tomorrow?

Note to all: I spent 6 hours of my work day watching "Reba." Fuck.
Back from the hospital..

After hours of being hooked up to the biometric gizmos and whizbangs, they decided that baby isn't coming tonight.. but that if contractions restart to come back tonight.. so does that mean that we might still? Confusing.

Anyway, so I guess that was false start #2.

Okay Fine

I created another team for fantasy football, The Placeholders, so now we are all ready to draft!

Feel free to join the NFL Pick 'Em league! Only 2 of us in there!
Just ordered Never Winnez Nites

you better all be ready to play it! suckers!

Added: just fyi, The "Hunt for Boeing" (that hit pentagon) 9/11 is an urban legend. There are a few credible sites/book that addresses the "myths".

Also, I just heard on CNN radio that the "wife of the ex-captain of the boeing 757" had complained to the pentagon for the failure of individuals rather than failure of institution etc etc...
Hey Turds!

Rudy, Enron, Jael, and fArt go join the Pick 'Em League too! The number is #43359, all this one is is a league where you pick which team is going to win each week and that is it! Rudy, just take your same picks as you do with work and kick all our asses!!!

DO IT! Then I can set the league to begin! Actually, now that I look closer we NEED you to join Rudy otherwise we can't go through with the draft, there cannot be an odd number of teams! Eek! Hurry!

Rudy, join our little fantasy league too (Yahoo Sports #686404)! We have no idea what we are doing! Hooray beer!

NWN Seems Silly Now

In light of your previous post there Art. Good luck d00d!

So cool and weird that you (of all people...) are the first of my friends to have a little one! Of course it's weird to think of any of us raising a kid at all, seeing as we are all still kids, but that's neither here nor there!

Good luck! NWN will wait!
Uh oh..

Wife just called me and said she thinks she might have started contractions. She's going to monitor them, lie down for a bit and see if they're just "practice" contractions or the real thing. I'll know more in a few hours, I guess.

Good thing I installed the car seat last night! Hehe.. weeeeeeeeeee!
Good find!

I saw the SoU and HoU expansions on there for cheap as well... probably pick up all three for less than $40 including tax/shipping! Yeehaw.

cheaps

here at froogle CHEAPS! they list where u can get nvn cheapest - one place has it for $9 bucks - I THINK its a new copy, but if its used, fuck that. If you buy an online game used, youre bound to get a cdkey thats already been used and you might get screwed trying to play it online. I wanna get it! Won't be able to for a couple of weeks though - tell me how it goes dudes!

(The 2nd place on that list, Purplus has it for 9.95 and with fast shipping for like 3 bucks - think thats what ill use)

Mpre NWN gppdees

Bioage is probably wrapping up all the expansions, and offering it in the platinum package that should be out in the stores by sept for 39.99. I'd buy it, if everyone else will step up to teh plate.

Just got throught the NWN demo. It's pretty cool with all the character classes offered, weapons, etc. A little bit like diablo except for the combat which is more D&D based whatnot. The only thing I found irritating was turning the angle of your facing. You either have to use the arrow keys or scroll the mouse on the edge of the screen. Both ways are cumbersome and not instantaneous. After a while it gets pretty annoying missing basic items and doors.

Dunno about the demo, but in the full game there are three different types of "camera" available and each one is customizable. There is a top-down, a "chase" angle and a three-quarters static angle... all of which I believe you can adjust your "range" and "altitude".

The Raisin Days

Will it pose a problem if I'm running both Souls of Urentide and Hordes of the Underdark on top of the basic game if everyone else is running just the basics? I dunno! I guess we can try it and see what happens. Perhaps the most important thing is that we're all on the same patch build, I suppose.. but I dunno if that's dependent on version/expansion pack as well.

Hmm..

I'd..eh.. "distribute" copies of my SoU and HoU disks but I think you need a unique CD key to play online?

I've seen the "Gold" box that includes SoU for twenty something, but I haven't seen/priced the HoU expansion lately. I bought it for thirty something brand new. For what it's worth, they are really quite good and I whole heartedly recommend them. The Hoardes of the Underdark expansion set is REALLY a huge improvement over the previous two in terms of available items (weapon/armor crafting! Weeeee!) , added class types and whatnot.
YeeHaa

Damn I miss the blog for a few days and all hell breaks loose. So here are my answers in no particular order Yes. No. No. Yes. No. Yes and Yes. Clear? Great. Moving on...

Well saturday I went down to Sunnyvale to visit a friend with Aimey and I was able to get my hands on some 284 hours of 80s/New Wave music files. I havent even begun to sort through them and figure out what I want. The guy is a DJ and has a ton of good song, rare cuts, and a lot of vinyl transfers. The real trick is that he uses FLAC instead of mp3. FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is usually ~6.5 megs per minute as opposed to CD at 10 Megs a minute and mp3 @ 128 kbit wich is roughly 1 meg a minute. So long story short I have 100 GB of music I have to sort through.

On Tuesday of last week I got cold called by a temp/recruiting agency for a 2 month job. They called in the afternoon and wanted me to interview the next morning. Rule. Got a call on Saturday that I got the job. So I am now doing XP rollouts for AAA's headquarters here for about 8 weeks. Its a swing shift job though. Gives me time to look for another job during the day. Anyway I think this will put a damper on my playing NWN or BB. Boo.

Speaking of Mac, has anyone seen the new iMac up close and personal? They still dont have them in stock at the Mac store here. They look real nice online. I wish I had the money for both a PC and a Mac rig.

Art that was some good Tin-Foil hat action. Nice find.

D>M>
What's the best place to get a cheap copy of NWN?

I found it on amazon for 15, anywhere that has a better price new? It actually looks cool, I'm downloading the single player demo. D&D fun? Haven't felt that in years. Were starting without the expansions correct? They'll ship out with the deluxe edition soon if we wait a little.
Yeah, it's too bad because the NWN toolset for PC is great, very easy to use. Maybe as the Mac one moves along it's become more user-friendly.

One cool thing I found are modules made for a group and DM. They have some descriptions and scripts set up but assume that the DM will be doing all the work. We could do one of those, easily.
Mac-in-Botch

I'll take my occaisonal blue-screen-o-gates over Mac-in-Botch, thanks.

(Sorry to hear it's such a pain in the ass... bleh)

Also, there are a TON of downloadable multiplayer modules from the NWN vault. Can we multi-play the original "boxed" module? That might be a lot of fun as long as it scales properly for the size of our merry band of metrosexual warriors.

Love,

Cap'n O.

OK, I spent some time playing around with the Mac version of NWN today. It works, and it looks good, but... the Mac version doesn't come with the dungeon-building toolset. Uhhh... that's a big part of the draw there. You can still DM, you just can't make your own maps.

But! There's a robust fan-made Mac version of the toolset in development. It seems like it has a fair amount of support from Bioware. However:

Holy fuck, it is a fucking goddamn night-fucking-mare to install that fan-made piece of shit. I mean, JFC, and I don't mean "Jonestown Fried Chicken." In the readme is a list of like eight Python libraries that you need to install. There are no directions on how to install them or anything, and no FAQs on the subject to be found. After going all over the internet downloading libraries like I was on some fucking scavenger hunt for assholes, I started trying to install them and within 45 minutes had a blazing headache in the middle of my forehead and had gotten nowhere. First of all each of these libraries come with zero information on how to install them. Never mind that each one of them needs special command-line parameters which there is zero documentation for. The really aggravating thing is that installing each one of them is apparently dependent having installed all of the others, including the one you are currently trying to install. "You cannot install python.stfu without first installing python.fux0r. You cannot install pythonfux0r without first installing python.ass.hat. Did I mention you cannot install python.ass.hat without first installing python.stfu? HAHAHAH pwnd!"

So fuck that shit. I could still run this shit but I might need someone's PC to build maps. It's a real quick process and I don't smell bad or leave hand sweat on the mouse.
Okay..

Hottest Woman To Walk This Earth

Edit.. ok, so it works.. but for Christ's sake, isn't this about ten thousand times easier:

BTW.. you guys really don't know who Priest Holmes is? Wow. Good news is that the auto-draft will more or less guarantee you a competitive team, regardless! =]

The NFL and Me

Johnny, I seriously know more ex-NFLers that are sportscasters and color comentators than I know current players. P. Holmes sounds about as good to me as he does to you! We are all, with the exception of Art, in the same boat as you Jael, don't even sweat it! Just watch Sport Center everynight for 3 years and you should be up to speed! Don't forget the pickem league where all you need to do is pick which team will win everyweek! Easy!

The Art of Posting Links That Open Outide the Blog Window -

1) In your post, highlight the word you wish to create a link to and click the little infinity symbol to link to it.

2) This will open the link window with the "http://" prompt and you can enter your text and then press ok to link to it.

3) This will spit out some code that looks like this {A HREF="http://www.theactionteam.org"}theactionteam.org {/A}

4) Change the link in the post to read: {A HREF="http://www.theactionteam.org" TARGET=DISPLAY}theactionteam.org {/A} and everything will be tidy and nice. Of course the { and } really mean "<" and ">".

Now you try!
P holmes is the number 1 draft pick.... P. Holmes?

based on yahoos list. I don't even know who he is! I'll do so well on this yahoo football dillio.

just read this article:
"An animal rights group involved in a long legal dispute with Kentucky Fried Chicken about the treatment of the 700 million chickens it buys each year is to release a videotape today showing slaughterhouse workers for one supplier jumping up and down on live chickens,drop-kicking them like footballs and slamming them into walls, apparently for fun."

Sad but soo funny.,.. is it just me? The next WWC champions (the KFC chicken farmers) vs the bushwackers

Game Over.
Apparently Acclaim entertainment filed chapter 7. Guess no bards tale 800...

E-dizzle to the Hizzy

Dude, if I knew how to even post links in this uber-code stuff, I'd probably know how to insert the Target=1^zk(for:then) code like a real haxxor.

Maybe I need "Posting In Blogs For Dummies" or something. =/

I know the [img] and and [b], [i], [u] and the corresponding [/ ] stuff to close the tags that I use in most all of the forum-type-places that I frequent.. but I dunno all the Ahref=start1^zk(for:then) up-down-up-down-left-right-A-B-Start haxxor language.

I'm so st00pid.

Picking over the bones of the fallen!

A true tribute to D&D character interaction adn behavior, this sad tale is about an artist that worked in the gaming industry since '74. Our artist named David C. Sutherland III did numerous art and illustration pieces for TSR and other companies over the years, and now apparently his health is waining, infact his status is terminal. This being said he, or someone representing his estate, is selling off his collections of art and gaming related items in a pre-mortem sale to raise a little bit of money for hospital bills, inheritance, etc.

So, just like a true adventurer you too can pick over the bones of your mortally wounded party member and take the stuff that they won't need in the afterlife. Of course, if this were D&D he we would actually just take a toenail off him and resurrect him... what grim irony.

Anyway, bid on something and help this guy's family out if you can. I'm trying to get a beltbuckle and the 10th anniversary chalice. Ravenloft I and the rare II are both available, as are some editors copies of old school D&D books and AD&D books.

There is something morbid and yet noble about trying to buy a still living man's belt buckle...

http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=14300

Also, Art if you want to pop your link out of the blog window, add TARGET=DISPLAY to the first 'a' tag, right between the ending link quotation mark, and the end tag >.

Re Johnny's post: You are talking to to the wrong people about that flash movie... I think you are in the minority in your beliefs about this one on this blog....
Dude! I just have to laugh

I swear, the conspiracy theories people drum up are so fucking funny. Sigh. I'm not going to argue on this. Seriously. I'm not even going to waste my time. Why do people waste good effort and blemish the good name of free speech to drum up chain letters, fake emails and this crap. It sure makes a good boogyman story... OH no! now were being attacked by missiles on PENTAGON no less. whateva lol. It's funny to an extent, but in all seriousness these things suck when people actually begin to believe it or begin casting doubts upon our government in this way. At least prove it rather than create an elaborate faux-pas.

Jael
Get out your tinfoil and make a pretty hat!

Bleh.. I dunno the code. Right click this and open in a new window:

http://www.freedomunderground.org/memoryhole/pentagon121.swf

(How do I get a link to come up in a separate window instead of "in" the blog-chat-window?)

that was sick!

awesome flash art! I was having trouble with that link , but i found a redirect from that site: www.nixtro.com/pentagon121.swf

It's crazy because, ya - I don't remember ever seeing evidence of the plane. Maybe that shit was so demolished you wouldn't see much intact, but I dunno. Very interesting!

Jael: Haven't had time to fuck wit yer tracks yet - I'm almost done with my album, and I only have a couple of weeks left b4 deadline - when its done ill get to yer stuff for sure.

Speaking of jammin music,

rudy: you got those sample files that you were gonna fix and give back?

Jon: Yeah, Al Lowe is friggin great, wished he would continue his Leisure Suits. But hey, I'll probably give the new one a shot. the graphics looked handsome. You might be right about Larry being different than us... probably better! At least he ALWAYS gets laid at the end with the hottest chick and dies horrible deaths.

nukes and pukes

My friend just told me about this last night, but had any of you heard about the 2-mile wide mushroom-cloud in North Korea from last thursday? I swear I didn't see nothing about it on tv news - North Korea claims that they were blowing up a hydro-electric plant or something, and Powell says "Uh, it's nothing to worry about. Iraq!" But I know the South Koreans are a little scared, as is Nippon I'm sure. more infro

Oh man, last night I went out to the Dragonfly with some of my friends for my bday and I got so fucked up I spent like 30 minutes at home trying to puke up some of the booze! AWESOME! It was an awesome night except for that puking part. So, if you like 80's music and hot slutz, you gotta go check that place out on Sunday Night. There's an 80's cover band called "Spazzmatics" and theyre fucking awesome! They kinda look like devo-ish or something, but they jam thru ALL the sick 80's song - they even did "like a virgin" and the singer sounded like friggin' madonna! So much fun.

Johnny--that's the one at the hotel, right? Where you use the blubber from the liposuction to light the lamp? I agree, that was a good one. Much better than the godawful number five.

I'm not sure you want to be like Larry Laffer, though. Remember, that fucker almost never gets laid, and usually meets a horrible death. I guess he isn't really that different from most of us in that regard.

The last one (on the boat) is supposed to be fun too. There's also a new one coming out later this year, although it isn't written by the same guy. Usually once these series leave their original creator they're not much good anymore (see Island, Monkey).

I feel so '90s now.
hee hee... just got done with Leisure suit larry 6

That's the best LSL so far besides 2. The ending was a blast. funny funny funny. Good for Larry. That guys a stud. How can I be more like him?
sheesh... (wipes tear from eye) good shit. 2 more to go! This is soooo high school

Sunday, September 12, 2004

so far I'm 11-3 in the work nfl pool - not bad, but I don't know if thats good enough to win. last year the winner usually nailed all the games. 2 more games left - the one thats playing right now is lookin bad for me, but i still got monday night.

that ghost dog the rpg reference was awesome!

Eric--do you still have 2 functioning computers? Do you any free time Mon-Thursday? I'd be willing to install NWN on your other machine and run a test game for whoever's interested (or for just the two of us--Neverwinter Ghostdog).
so far im about 6 for 7 of the games that are going on this morning. I went against da BEARS in their game against the lions, but they're winning 7-0 right now. Let's see how it goes!

PS - Just in case any of you haven't seen it, Da Ali G show is truly hilarious and definately worth a rental/purchase. I've d/l'd a bunch of the shows from the UK and theyre just friggin' so funny - they've redone some of the old skits on the US show (like when he's talking to a "special asian from the DEA") and in that case the UK version was a lot funnier. Anyways - gotta see that shit, mates. Respec!
