PS Looks like Blood Bowl beta is ending sunday! I had an awesome game last night. My humans took on some orcs, I beat the dude 3-0. Pretty much luck was on my side as well as solid tactics. Score my first goal Round 2. I had final possesion at the end of Round 16, for the F of it, through a long pass - he caught it and ran it in. Suffered some gnarly injuries though, but man, I friggen KILLED it. Can't wait for this damn game. What team to make, what team..

Play me tonight whoever! Don't wait till midnight to ask me either, I'll be home by 6!!!

I have to think about it Eric re: podcast. I'm def interested in contributing but I don't know if the 2-man format is really worth the effort. If we got more people involved, I think it'd be easier, funner, and a better listen. I don't know, let's bounce some idears around.

| Regale Away... I'll Start

I bought the two phonebooks (player's compendium/GM's compendium) from Lulu. 550 pages each! What Eric once aptly called the "FASA juggernaut" just grows over time (and in my heart, aww).

I bought 'em because they're going out of print when they put out (duh duh daaa) 3rd edition in a few months. Redbrick has got a publishing deal with Mongoose to do print books. My impression is that 3rd ed will be fairly compatible with the red brick version, and whatever they charge for the new books it certainly won't be that volume of support material for that price!

Anyway, I love Earthdawn as a setting and a system too, so I'm using this purchase to motivate myself to run it one of these days. I really want to run a campaign of "Big ED" someday and I think I have enough a critical mass of Action Teamers, role-players I work with and people that are in my game group to pull it off sometime. Or I could run a very special "campaign for one" at Kubla Con... aww, yeah.

Redbrick is also putting together "Age of Legend," which is an adaptation of Earthdawn into 4th ed. This actually makes a lot of sense to me, because many things that don't seem to me to have any rationale in 4th ed (healing yourself, the power system, etc.) actually do make sense in the logic of the ED world. That said 3rd party supplements for D&D have a mixed track record, so we'll see.

| Podcast

Hey Rudy, any interest in getting back in the podcast arena? Been chatting with the fellas at work about doing Talk Soup meets the View and sort of continuing the discussions and topics brought up in other podcasts we listen to - adding our two cents as it were (it also makes it a lot easier to come up with material because it isn't ours!).

I think Cardboard Electric Mayhem was a good test run, and I think we could do a better job this time around. Any interest?

From any AT members?

| Earthdawn?

Jon - Earthdawn? Old stuff or the new prints from Lulu.com? Cause I can regale you with stories about wasting my retirement/prostitute fund on Earthdawn books.
The fucking telemundo/wanting to play with Hoobastank shit has me cracking up at work. WLEL PLAYED GOOD,SIR!? (I'm not into the whole faux-"sir" thing if anyone knows what I'm saying - I think it's a nerd thing.)

Yeah, this version of BB is fantastic and if Jon is actually able to do a PC version I saw Action Team goes that route. I'll most likely just rent it on the 360 to get some achievments and maybe play some games w/ a different crowd, but overall I'd feel better about getting the pc version for the possibility of mods/quicker updates/free online/etc. We'll see, when the heck is this even supposed to come out?

For Blood Bowl in general, it's just a hard game for me to keep focus when it's not my turn. 4 mins FLYS by when its your own turn, it's sometimes not even enough time, but when its the other guys turn, I hope they do something to spice it up. It's a good game for listening to podcasts to though because there's so much downtime.

There was a gnarly sale at Best Buy yesterday (well all week but comeon, shit was sold out pronto) of a bunch of 360 games for $10 bucks. I just bought a racing game and an rpg, but they also had some warhammer game (battle march?) I shoulda bought but I didn't.

Played a fuckton of the new Survival mode in Left4Dead yesterday and it is totally awesome. I just played with 3 random dudes but they were all pretty cool and good players and everyone was on mics so it worked. Survival is basically like the end scenes in the regular mode where you do something that starts the hordes and you have to survive. What they've done is just made all these different scenes standalone and it's wave after wave - so the maps are altered a little, and you're just trying to survive against a clock. When you start you've got as much time as you want to explore and come up with a plan (and there's always tons of explosives around) and then you start the event and watch all your plans fall apart.

It's fucking fun. Remember the level in No Mercy where you make your way to an elevator? So this is just that floor with the elevator. You can break all the little side doors down and theres projectiles and pills in the little rooms and then when you're ready someone calls the elevator and it start. OH MY GOD, it's so insane. Just for the guy who starts the events, trying to run back to where we picked as our room was insane. It got to where we were all in this little operating room, two tanks in there (both on fire from malotovs) horde rushing in the door, and hunters and smokers all over. JUST NUTS! So awesome. If you survive 4 mins you get bronze, 7 mins silver, and then 10 or more for Gold. We could usually get bronze, sometimes silver, rarely gold. SO FUN! Get a day pass or something eric and we'll get Jon and someone can dual screen w/ one of you guys for it.

| BB

I'm fired up! Sounds like it's a good translation of the rules. I was halfway concerned it would be watered down for the whole 360 "sitting on the couch/wearing a headset like a fucking telemundo/hoping to play with Hubastank" crowd but it sounds like it's pretty faithful.

Also, I keep forgetting that I now have a perfectly decent PC rig packed away in the confines of my laptop, so if everyone ends up going that route for the full release, it's all good in the hood!

In other news: I just spent more than $100 on Earthdawn stuff, and in the process of doing so have made myself late for work. Go me! Double victory!

| Bloodiest of Bowels

Played two games this weekend with Denis and am totally warming up to the game more so than I was earlier. The controls make total sense, it is fun, and each game I am mostly engrossed with the occasional lack of interest when it hits like the 3minute mark of my opponents turn. Good stuff.

I am fairly convinced I will need 3 version of the game, which is sad, but to cover all my BB bases with friends, I will need the 360 version, I need the DS version for the can and before bed, and I think the PC version is where it will really shine.

I can't complain because it is a free beta, but our second game was disconnected from the server about 3/5 of the way through. In this game on the first move, of the first turn, my ogre went for a two dice block against a blitzer, rolled skull/both down, took a re-roll, rolled double skulls, failed his armor and was badly hurt - fortunately no lasting effects, but it certainly set the tone for the game and I was to play it with only 10 players from that point on.

I had eeked out 2 TD's by the time the tide had changed and Denis' team, the Lynonesse Vespas, started to steamroll me (apparently they thrive when they are not under pressure). His combination of just ridiculously ill advised, and heroically exciting, moves crushed me and my teams spirit and int he last turn of the game he pulled out the victory! In the end I think I had 8 players on the pitch and two serious injuries (to add to my two -1 STR injuries from the last game we played). And since there was the server disconnection, we got to finish the game, but the results and none of the stats were saved. It was all just a dream.

Good times. Oh yeah, did I mention that my thrower was sitting out from an injury suffered at the hands of Rudy for Denis and I's first game, and the fans and announcers were still so enamored with the fellow, he was awarded the MVP of the match for riding the pine? He also won the MVP for the game he was injured played and forced him to miss the next game. Awesome.
