Yeah, it's a casino-resort. MGM Grand, to be exact. The big huge green monster of a building. It's like a mile walk from the employee lot to the shop. Thankfully, it looks like after my training this next week, I'll be given the afternoon/evening shifts so I won't have to drop Haylee off at daycare until like noon, and Michelle will get her around 3pm or so, which is nice.
Essentially, business services concierge handles two functions.. one is getting regular guests access to fax, copy, computers and shipping. The other is supporting the meeting, event and convention services and handling all the freight, delivery and sensitive documents that may or may not be time-sensitive. I don't think it's going to be anything necessarily complex to get a handle on.. it'll mostly be about learning the day to day "scan this here, enter into computer there, schedule hourly workers when we forecast convention/meeting traffic increase, send people home when quiet..." kind of stuff. I really think just showing up and being competent is good enough to shine, sadly.

Caught this today, thought it was pretty interesting:
French Artists of 1910 imagine the year 2000
Fantasy Hockney again, you say? I dunno, I may have to ride off into the sunset after my dominating season last year. LOLZ
In other news: I just got a call yesterday from the MGM-Mirage regarding my application for an internship/flunky position and after reviewing my file, they want me to start as a salaried floor supervisor instead.. wow! So, that's kind of a good news / bad news thing.. means I'm about 18 months ahead on the advancement track, and the money will be.. well.. alright if unspectacular to start.. but it also means 45-50 hours a week, which is going to suck balls. Plus, I have to hope for afternoon/evening/weekend shifts so Haylee isn't in daycare 8 hours a day. Meh.
Also, not much notice.. they called yesterday and I start... TOMORROW. Yikes.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I went to visit a high school friend this weekend. He has two boys now. His youngest is 9 months old and is named Logan. It didn't occur to me until my sister pointed it out to me later that the boy was probably named after Wolverine. Sniff. Makes me so proud to be a nerd. Although I shouldn't be surprised. His oldest son's middle name is Archer. OK the pressure is on. Who is going to name their next kid THACO?
Jon and Rudy, I hope your birthdays were not ruined by the realization that we are but sand castles slowly being washed away by the relentless ebb and flow of time. Cthulhu awaits.

Also, regarding the SC Panzergammengruppe, here is a nice poll they are running on the Yahoo message board regarding next week's meeting, and remember this is after there was a fair amount of interest from new members to play a miniatures game, and me talking about wargames:
Please select from the following, a game (or games, you can vote twice!) that you would like to play at next weeks meeting.
o Steve Jackson game (i.e. Chez Geek, Munchkin, etc)
o Euro game (i.e. Ticket to Ride, riverboat game)
o Random board game (i.e. Monopoly, Clue)
o Other card game (Apples to Apples, etc)
Ouch. Pretty sure this is not for me.
In non-related news, I think for the first time in my life I was bitten by a hornet. Apparently, they bite, not sting. Either way, it latched on while I was running Wylie through a path in Nisene Marks Park, freaked me out so I swatted at my leg, it didn't let go, I had to hit it again, and finally it let go. Immediately it swelled up and started burning/pain.
Long story short, next day felt like I was kicked in the shins for about an hour, next day horrible itching. Today, less itching.
Bottom line, wear pants when running though trails at a park.
Anyone interested in some online wargaming? Email gaming, so its like one turn a day? Or even a few turns in a night? Something? Anything?
Rudy and I played ASL on VASSAL a few times and it was pretty fun I thought. Any takers? All sorts of games are available from Space Hulk to ASL. Do it!

| 3:10 to Yoohoo
Saw 3:10 to Yuma the other night in theaters. It was pretty good! Saw a late show, and for whatever reason, sitting in a movie theater late at night puts my ass to sleep, so I dozed a FEW times, but not too bad. But yeah, pretty good western! Christian Bale is an awesome actor. Russel Crowe is good too, but something about his fucking face bothers me, so I'm constantly fighting myself to see him as the character and not that duece-bag Russel Crowe.
Enoto: I don't have your copy of Gurps: SPace Trannys and Elfs but I still do have your copy of BESM: Little Kids Chained up at Mira Costa Pool. It's a little worse for wear, but I'll get it back to you pronto, tonto!
