STFU!
Go Myke, Go! That is supAr sweet. Jon and I will ruin your professorship by forcing you into bondage of pure gaming love. Big Dick Small Mouth style. Months of leather, whips, paint brushes, four-siders and some tape measures. Oh yeah, if you have any evening classes, Jon and I will be sure to help out. "Professor Vagina, Professor Vagina! I dont get it!"
Seriously though, if you need help with info about the city and so forth feel free to call.
KublAjoN: I am in. Hopefully some other gonads can make it up. Elzar you are out for sure right? I think Ja -El is in the land of phalipines. Myke, will you be in the states or Engrishland? Pump? Rude-dog? I could check in with Dave too? What say you all.

BTW Jon is right 'bout STFU pizza. Pretty good for cafeteria food all in all.

Glad to hear it dude! Many congratulations! That's great that you can stay in sunny California. They also make a pretty good slice of pizza on campus! And trust me, this move will be very good for your gaming life. Enron and I can be VERY persuasive. < cracks knuckles >
So when does the position start, and when will you be heading up here? My advice is to move up here after it starts hailing, but before your first day on the job.
You will need the following things to live in San Francisco:
An enjoyment of rain and gloom
A good coat
A couple of bitchin' friends.
Fortunately, I think you're covered on all counts!
KublaCon
Just wanted to throw this out there: KublaCon. It's coming, and it's fabulous. Who's in? I've had a great time every year and I'd love to go again. I'm willing to arrange the room and everything if we can get at least four people in on this. Enron has already said he's up for it, so.... Myke? Denis? Rudy?
Don't worry Aeryk, you'll be there in spirit, begging us to play Blood Bowl in astral form!

Board Game: I always have had a soft spot for "Dungeon" (I think is what it was called?) Good times with that one.
EDIT FOR TARGET EQUALLING TEH DISPLAY. (sigh)

LOoking back NOW...
sure it's funny and I can enjoy the full hilarity of the game, but I think during THAT time the Germans were under too much pain to fully enjoy "the holy hand grenade" that landed and smited entire squad! =D Especially on a gimped lieutenant and a seargeant, out in the open! Cheney at least hit something! =)
DO THIS:
Type in "FAILURE" on the google search website and click on "feelin lucky". ---- THE TRUTH.

Not that I am a huge fan of Domino's pizza, but now I think I will never eat from there again.
On to much better subjects: WFRP. A great game that I never got to fully explore. O Rugs and I were only able to catch the tail end of the Elzar & Friends WHRP. I would put requests for WFRP games in the Strategicon suggestion box every year. Yet my requests went unfulfilled. Boooo. Rat Catching and Grave Robbing aside I really like the mechanics and the charcter career class orientation of the system. Note on a purely humor based value system: Jon's favorite, BDSM (Big Dick Small Mouth), would have been considered as would Reich Star JP Stylie and GURPS Gilligan's Island. PS I will not run an RPG, JP and his f'n butter was too much for me. It was funny, but at the same time furthered my insecurities about GMing roleplay games to the point of no return.
Minis: Wow, big field here. Where to go. So many great games, so little time. Games that could have been great (read: Chainmail v2). Games that were great for reasons other than the mechanics of the game (Read: Epic and Warbands). Games that never got a chance that I really liked (Eric I totally agree with you on BGWWII, too bad Johnny could not get past the grenade 'splosion). Games that didnt quite tickle me (PBI aka PB&J) but seemed cool. I dont know if I could select any one game. Personally I much rather a game system that caters to campaigns. I liked developing the team and getting unique rewards a la Warbands and Necromunda. I also like the quasi-roleplay nature of the campaign system.
Board Games: Another wide open field. I dont know if I could ever play the same board game only for one year. I get tired of board games much quicker than mini's or roleplaying. I am not sure I can call that one. Maybe Warhammer Quest.

Sure this is old news to at least a few of you, but I just bothered listening to the Ricky Gervais (creator/boss from bbc "the office") podcasts that were all the rage a little bit ago. They were free from podcast, but this next season guess theyre gonna charge money for em. Anyways, here's series 1 in mp3 form and I consider it required listening. SO FUNNY. Least listen to the first 3 shows. Just amazing. Episodes after the first few are good also, but the first few are just amazing. I threw a few episodes on my ipod when I went to the gym last week and I was on the treadmill and I kept just busting up laughing. I felt weird as hell seeing as everyones all serious into their workouts, and I'm just walking on the treadmill staring at myself in the mirror and spontainiously laughing my ass off. Jeezus, classic stuff.
Series 1 in mp3s all packaged in a torrent. It was free to begin with, so guess nothin to feel too guilty about.

Hmm, that is a tough one jon! I don't really have the interest of running any of them myself, but if I could choose the rpg, I dunno! I've really enjoyed most of the rpgs we've tried over the years. DnD would be cool. I think one of my favorite campaigns was the bounty hunter one. Would have been cool to play that our for a year. Delta Green was also a blast, so maybe that. I always wanted to try to get into a sci-fi rpg, so maybe i'd force the group into enjoying a year of the Buck Rogers RPG. Well maybe nowadays something more complex than the old buck rogers game, but back in highschool I remember running it for two of my friends (in the library... was that highschool or before highschool!? Can't remember! I just remember I pretty much threw most of the rules out the window and was constantly fudging the rules, but I think the 2 dudes enjoyed it.)

Thats a good one
RPG: Either WFRP, or Call of Cthulhu. I think I had some of the most fun in my RPGing career playing WFRP, running through the Enemy Within Campaign, before I really started hanging with (or re-hanging with, as the case my be with Art and Enron) you guys. Zak Langley, JP, Jason May, Benji, Scott Maynard and Alex Toth. Man. When Alex and Ben decided it would be funny to backstab the group after we tattoo'd Bens head with the word "Thief" after he failed to pick our pockets, was great. Zak actually ran separate, but somewhat parallel games for the splinter groups. We would still hang out at school together, but there was definate weirdness. In the game we would both see and hear of evidence regarding the other group as we played. It was gaming brilliance.
Fucking Alex and his damn Wardancer.....
However, we can't forget Enron's game where JP was too cheap to buy the material component for his sleep spell, common feathers, and had to try and steal them by imitating a member of the Watch (police) by somehow adhereing a Watch badge to his shirt using BUTTER, because he was too cheap to buy glue for that matter.
As far as my experiences with CoC, man, we have had some good ones. From my first experience at a con going crazy in a house, and getting into gunfights with other players over our insanities, to Prosties, nothing but good times have been had playing CoC. From the Chinese Guy selling Magic Shirts, to the trunk of holding, to Rudy and Jon's characters in Delta Green arguing over which cell phone to use cause they don't want to waste their minutes, to JP dragging that kid out of class to interrogate him. Nothing but good times are had playing CoC. Just think about how many times the world would be destroyed by the Great Old Ones if it were not for the guys who thinks it is a good idea to break into their neighbors homes when something seems out of the ordinary....
Miniatures: I am burnt out on Warbands, even to this day, so my choice would probably be, either Battleground WWII, or DBA. Never played DBA, but I know it would be awesome, fun, and fast! As for BGWWII, some of us did play that one, a few times. In fact, I think the first time I really met or hung out with Denis was at a local con and Enron, Jael and I were playing BGWWII. There was a stranded tank commander and his destroyed tank in the middle of the board, and the US had to save him from the clutches of the Germans, who had him pinned. I remember there being some heroic moves, that had something to do with a squad hurling grenades over a wall, all to no effect, and in return one or two guys throwing a grenade that landed RIGHT IN THE CENTER of the Germans, killing most of them. Jael was not pleased about that one! Hilarious!
Boardgame: Blood Bowl. Duh. And now that I am all grown up and graduated from college, Advanced Squad Leader. I want nothing more that to watch Denis square off against Rudy at ASL. And them enjoy it because of the magic one year rule.
Honorable Mentions: Beer Cap Soccer, Man-on-Man Combat System, and Puerto Rico.
I am quite surprised that Jon's ideal was not Planescape!

I've always thought that Warhammer (RP) was the absolute best of the best in gaming as it was more about the characters, storyline and plot-progression than it was about rolling 50 dice and hack/slashing your way to XP glory. Not that I didn't/don't enjoy D&D, because I do.. but I always thought that WHRP was the most fun I ever had.
As a non "role playing" choice, I'd say that Warbands has to be another of my all time favorite games. Good memories with that one. That and drunken beer-cap hockey. Or drunken Roborally. Or, anything plus adult malted beverages.
Or.. Oi, Dat's My Leg.. just for old times' sake. LOL.

Trip down nostalgia lane
All right. You can pick out any one roleplaying game and your friends will willingly play it with you consistently for a year without making fun of it or giving you any shit (unless you deserve it). You can run it, but if you don't want to one of your pals will run it for you. What do you play!?!?
For me, I think the choice is running old-school D&D using the Rules Cyclopedia. I'm talking "your class is Dwarf" D&D. So basic, but the one book has all the rules for 1st-36th level crammed into it, and all the basic information for Karameikos, Glantri, and all the surrounding nations. And with the advanced rules for weapon mastery and proficiencies, plenty of ways to customize a character. All good stuff. Ah, even thinking about it brings a little tear to my eye. I'd probably start with an old-school dungeon crawl, go to Night's Dark Terror (the one with the fight on the boat), and then work up to x4 and x5, Master of the Desert Nomads and Temple of Death, the two D&D modules I've always loved but have never run. Those top out around level 9 and let's face it, level 9 is a pretty serious year of gaming in old-school D&D.
Your turn!

I'm back from my riot of one with enough KFC Snackers to last me a seriously long time. Since the restaurant is a combination KFC/Taco Bell I also ganked a shitload of Cinnamon Crispas. I also camped out on top of the chinese "100% Healthy Dessert" place and sniped at people trying to put out the fires.
Anyway yeah I liked War of the Worlds a lot, it was very intense in the theater and the overwhelmitude of the big-screen format helped overcome some of the weaknesses, like Jimmy the Wonder Boy showing up at the end (or whatever his name is). Rudy you must have been in heaven during that scene with Tom Cruise and Tim Robbins, your favorite actors ever. I thought the most powerful scenes were the riot over the Cruises' car and that cool fiery train. The only thing that would have made the movie better was Jar Jar Binks, but that's true of most things (including riots).

"loot the kfc." ewww.
Yeah, the rain really ramped up this afternoon in my part of town, and its been pretty non-stop. I watched the new War of the Worlds last night, and it was pretty good! HORRIBLE "twist" at the end, but otherwise (and tom cruise aside) I thought it was pretty awesome. One cool scene where the little girl is looking at a river and you see one, then 2, then a whole SHIT load of dead bodies floating down it. Awesome. Nice 'n gory flick for the most part.
There was some Wil Wheaton movie I saw when I was a kid where the water in some small town was turning everyone into mutants. Water stuff, nuts!

The Perfect Storm
Good gravy. I don't know what's it's like in Southern California/Las Vegas/Tagalogtown, but the wind and rain here are fucking crazy. Not only that, but the lights are starting to flicker. I have a feeling it's gonna be back to the Stone Age, with lighting candles and probably rioting Hurricane Katrina-style. Corpses stacked eight deep in the ballpark kinda thing. Therefore my choice is to get the jump on things and loot the KFC up the street. I'm worried my umbrella might turn inside-out. Pray for it, fellas.

Ohh, talking about this weeks bsg? It was good! Last few have been good. This season though had a few in a row that were the ZZZ. But, it seems to be back on track last couple of eps. Go back on yer Tivo and notice the bsg "tribal drum fight music" - one of my favorite musical themes. I'm trying to steal a little from that for yer stuff. Good times.
