Slowly but surely, I am regaining my ability to eat the sandwich.
I've been sleeping and resting all day and I definitely feel better. I am so bummed out about being sick right now it is hard to explain. Basically I feel like a kid who is sick on Christmas. Also the kid's parents are going to destroy all of his presents in two days, so if he doesn't have fun now he will not have fun for a long time. Eric: don't treat your kid like that, man.
I think I'll feel loads better tomorrow and hopefully you guys will not mind hanging out with ol' Ragnar. Actually you guys are free to spend the night here tomorrow if things are a little cramped at Enron's place. One advantage of being around the house with nothing to do is that I have cleaned the toilet and floors. So you will be able to deposit your urine and shit into a brightly glinting porcelain bowl.

Ah my friends, how fickle is the wheel of fate. For now it is I -- yes, I -- who cannot eat the sandwich.
It hurts every time I swallow and my ear is kicking my ass. How delightful that this should occur the weekend that all my friends are coming up!
I spent an hour at work calling doctors trying to make appointments for tomorrow before I gave up and went home. I decided to go to the UCSF urgent care room. Basically, this is like halfway between the emergency room and a regular trip to the doctor's. It is more expensive than a regular doctor visit but not as much as the ER. Well, guess what! They decided to close 3.5 hours early today! Isn't that fantastic! The doctor was seeing her last patient as I arrived and the nurses refused to let me see her. That was a great time.
This is why women shouldn't be doctors in my opinion, because they always want to quit seeing patients so they can go home and cry, or go to Union Square and go boot shopping or something. That's just my opinion, but it's TRUE!
So my new plan is to go to the doctor tomorrow, get some antibiotics, sleep really really really really hard, and be better by Saturday morning!

I'm too scared to do a live reading, but I did work on this stream of consciousness piece. It's rough, but any feedback would be pretty cool.

When I was in 7th grade, I got my wisdom teeth pulled. During that opperation, the oral surgeon cut a nerve in my face so that about a quarter of my lower lip is numb. It stayed this way and is numb to this day. It isn't numb like you can poke a needle through it, but just numb enough so that when I am eating, sometimes food will be there and I can't tell. Not trying to one-up you, but I know what it is like to have a numbness.

- Mike is confirmed for Baby Shower SFCon. Enron, can you post some insanely detailed directions on how to get to your place for Mike from the OAK airport, like you did for me? It was so easy!
- So, Cuba Gooding Jr. was a guest "announcer" for one period at a Kings game, basically he likes hockey, and plays, and has some new movies coming out, so someone knew someone, and called someone and got him on to promote, blah blah blah. He sucked pretty bad, but whatever. ANYWAY. The announcers for the Mighty Ducks SUCK the WORST, most disgusting, diseased, hobo-cock, in the universe. They are terrible. They can't pronounce anyone's name correctly (on the Kings; Norstrom, is NOT pronounced NorDstrom, you prick), they clearly are watching different games than they are announcing cause they NEVER GET A CALL CORRECT as they describe it. Every penalty that goes against the Ducks is "ticky-tack", and every penalty against the other teams is a grevious intent to injure a Ducks player and the player should be suspended. You get the idea. ANYWAY, a guy posted this on the Letsgokings.com message board about it, and cracked me up:
"Dude, there's not even a debate here. Hayward? Please. Nothing is as bad as Hayward. I'd rather listen to 1,000 drunk and twisted Cuba Jr.'s than deal with a Hayward any freaking day. Cuba with a Tanq & Tonic I-vee'd into his arm for a month wouldn't be half as bad as that homer tool Hayward."

Good to hear things are on the up and up. Umm yeah the Friday the 13th it is. flights look to be round about $100-110 for a one way trip if you buy one right now. Either OAK or SFO, although you are probably going to find OAK a lot cheaper, SFO really does not cater to short run flights. Occasionally you will find a deal, but not often. As far as rides, well you will have to speak with Elzar about that. My wheels are dead at the moment so I can not offer up ElzNards car. Public tranny is pretty easy though. See what he says.

So, I'm sitting in my new office at UCLA (which I share with others, and is apparently the office of yet another person who is on some sort of teaching sabbatical. As yet, my name is not on it and there are no external signs that I have any ownership of the space at all. However, it does have several baby carriers toys, luggage books on Chinese history and culture, and golf clubs in it, so I suppose that that is all a plus. Anyone want any of it? Not even the talking 'Peek-A-Boo Zoo?' Ok. Oh, and I can't open the window either. Great.
No, I haven't arranged my flight yet (come, on, it's me we're talking about.) When would be good to get there on Friday 13th (shudder)? I can't imagine that I'll be able to leave earlier than about 3-4pm. Will someone be able to get me or do I have to take the train again? Should I go to the same place? I really shouldn't be going at all with the amount of nonsense I have to get done, but I'm trying to rationalise it and certainly want to. Maybe I can send my minis with Elrock so I don't have to carry them on the plane.
I was at the American Institute of Archaeology conference from Wednesday till yesterday. Had several interviews with important places for good jobs. Mananged to look like a complete idiot at only one of them - others, well, fingers crossed - who knows? Have to fly away for another one next weekend (hence the worry about what I've got to do as I have to give a paper at that one too!) Basically, I'm totally knackered. Conference = tons of stress for three days + not enough sleep + drinks once interviews were over + long flight back from Montreal on one hour of sleep + having to complete today's lecture yesterday + lecture today = EXHAUSTION. Still, wish me luck, ok guys?
Elrock, I'll ring you when I get home today to coordinate. Maybe I'll even have a flight by then.

Sudoku is pretty fun. I used to play it on my lunch break, but then I found I was obessing over it way too much and I decided it would be better if I walked around town for a bit to get my exercise and some fresh air.
Now Elzar, is Wiley pronounced like the Coyote or like the Whale? Hehe... Sweet. Good thing you didn't wait until the last minute. If you did Rudy or Jon may have named your child and then bummer. It would be smoxachaulk all over again, but for your child.
Painting. Well you can't say I haven't been trying, but I have all the speed of Dennis and none of the quality to go with it. D'oh. I am slow as shit, but I still keep hacking away at it. Plus I kind of don't like the way my colours (One for the Dr. MotoByke) have been turning out. I think I should have stuck with one of the colours. Oh well. Also I am still waiting for a head and a back piece from Privateer Press since mine were not included in the original packages. Hopefully I will see that this week. Besides WoW is for wimps and WarMachine is for pimps. step up to the plate my naga.
Tivo Series3. Has anyone seen the new specs. Man I want one. It sounds like you can bypass the digital cable TV boxes altogether.
The Series3 is a digital cable ready box, capable of recording two programs simultaneously, and can record HDTV broadcasts. The system also sports 2 USB ports, 10/100baseT Ethernet, and an E-SATA port for external storage expansion. More details.
