I don't think I'm going to get it. Elricks description of it sounded amazing, but I was SO BUMMED when I clicked over and saw that art style. Also, I've played some of his other "games as art" stuff, so I'm more hesitant to pull the trigger. But the premise is pretty awesome, just wish it was a modern looking game or something.
I've read other indie devs posts about how the Steam sales make them a shit ton of money because SO MANY PEOPLE impulse buy off that. Also I think people do ok with those Humble Bundle deals as well.
Speaking of modern shit, The Room 2 came out recently on iOS and it's discounted right now for $2.99. Loved the first one so picked this up. So far, so good - more weird puzzles with a k'tulu vibe.

No sale, since I'm still playing the game you posted about a few days ago. :)
I read about this guy's take on sales a couple days ago. It's his game, and it's totally possible he knows something about the economics of indie game development that I don't, but it seems misinformed to me. There are a TON of games that I never would've bought on Steam if they hadn't been discounted down to "don't even think about it" prices. It's not like this is a physical product that costs x per unit to manufacture so you need to make y% gross margin. Volume is good. And yet there are still games I buy at full price at launch when I'm excited enough about them. (The nearest candidate being Thief 4, provided the reviews are halfway decent, I'm in.) With rare exceptions I don't feel burned when those are later discounted. People pay more money for shiny new stuff than they do for old stuff, that's just how it works.

Just saw this on Steam, and I think it looks interesting.
TL;DR - you design a security system for your house to fend off neighborhood robbers, built using money you steal from other houses as you yourself don the robber cap. You have a safe to protect, and family members to protect, and if you die you start over. Oh yeah, its a MMO so everyone you rob, and that robs you, is a player.
Seems interesting, and I think you get your own files to run a server yourself. Anyone up for some neighborly teevin' and muurdrin'?
It's $11.99 right now, but after launch week it will go to $15.99 for ever because the dev doesn't want to penalize the players that started the community and were early adopters rather than wait and see'ers.
PS I like the idea of GenCon, but not so sure I could swing it. Seems extravagant when we have Kubla and Cayucos so near!

So I read the GenCon email that come my way. Looks like attendance has been going crazy! The housing block completely sold out in one day, which apparently took weeks in the years that we went.
Next year (2015) should we shoot for another go-round? Maybe try and get a couple more people involved? I do still have my membership card from the local market after all, shame to waste it. Plus we might run into that filthy-minded cab driver again.

Maybe your first tweet should've been, like, "My name is Rudy and I'm here to RIOT!" Or, too on-the-nose?
In the course of writing this post I got really excited about and then tired of Twitter.

This was my first tweet, apparently. Really funny stuff.
There was a bake sale at work and amazingly now I REALLY want to puke. Like, REALLY.

Haa haa! It's a good thing I swallowed my drink before reading your post. My monitor would be covered in coffee right now.
Yeaaah, how's this beta thing going to work? Is it going to wipe out my progress and all the cards I've been compulsively trying to collect? I also feel bad not needing to buy card sleeves...
