| Le Axe

Thursday I get called into a meeting with my boss and his boss.

BOSS: Just wanted to let you know, at that meeting in 15 minutes, we're laying everybody off.
HIS BOSS: Don't tell anyone!
(15 minutes later)
BOSS: Hi everyone, you are all laid off.

SO, basically I have a job for a couple months, then we're outsourcing everything. (Which is a horrible idea, that will end up costing much more money than it saves, but fortunately that is not my problem.) The upside is that I've already been job searching pretty hard for a couple of months already, so a) I've already laid a lot of job search groundwork that otherwise I'd just be starting b) now I can explicitly job search during work hours.

It's bizarre. Two more months of employment? We're supposed to train these externals how to do our jobs, but seriously, it's not gonna take that long. And we really don't need all of us to do it. As of about a week ago, we hit our slow season anyway. Thursday and Friday were already dire, grim days where people were mostly drunk or not there. I can only imagine what it'll be like in a month or so.

I just bought Civ 4 the Complete Edition (so the game and all its expansion) for $10 bucks on Steam. Sale goes till monday. Never played a Civ game in my life! Should be interesting, but at least it's a pretty cheap experiment. I've heard nothing but good stuff about it.

| I am fun.

But I hate elves and dwarfs with all my strength. I can't seem to figure out how to beat them. I love that game. I miss playing the olde version with dice.
yes, you're dick.

check out this fucked up site, www.spokeo.com. It culls peoples "public" information but it's basically a cyber-stalkers wet-dream. You're supposed to be able to opt-out. Looking up me doesnt really give out a whole lot, but some of my co-workers info was just completly out there, scary.
Now it's all awkward 'cause no one has posted and it looks like I'm just a straight up dick.

Looks like?

I will only play if I can be a Grave Robber Marine. Otherwise, fuck that shit.

Seriously, I will try and create my character in advance. Maybe I can jump by your place in the next few weeks and we can run through it. That way maybe I can help out with the other jArks too.

Rouge, Rogue, it's all the same. right?

I will also be the ball-buster enforcer for Jon. Here that Hillbilly boys? No dicking around or I pop your testies.

Still love it when people in WoW call rogues, 'rouges' - totally makes me feel superior in my Nerd skills that I can a) type correctly when I chat, and b) Know the difference between rouge and rogue. It's the little things, you know?

My only comment and creative criticism for jr0n would be to remember that in two four hour sessions, we seriously need an introduction, one social encounter, and probably one combat encounter. That will fill our time completely, particularly with character creation, a loud distracting con environment, and our level of fuckingaroundness.

Can I be a Chaos Terminator Marine? If not, I think this game is stupid and I don't really wanna play.
All righty, then! I'll run Rogue Trader. You are among the rare few permitted to freely explore beyond the boundaries of the Imperium in search of profit and new lands. You're the highest-ranking crew of a ship more than a mile long, crewed by tens of thousands... may the God-Emperor have mercy on their souls.

I'm going to run the intro adventure from the core book. I have some reading do to, as the core is about 380 pages of dense text....

I was thinking mornings/early afternoons are the ideal time as well. Mornings would be best since we could finish up and still have time to hit the dealer room, play other games, get drunk etc. Maybe we could do one session Friday and the other one Sunday.

Denis, do you have this game? If so you could help me a lot by being familiar with the rules, especially the character creation rules so that we can get that done reasonably quickly. We should try and get that done the night before we play.

Enron, you can help by putting together a dark, moody, technogothic soundtrack that evokes the adventure and terror implicit of being in deep space, with only a thin shell of metal protecting you and the thousands of souls under your protection from the terrors of the Warp.

Rude you can help by putting together a theme song -- will send some lyrics over soon.

I'm pretty excited!
I'm down for 2 sessions! Hopefully we can schedule it in cool times when everyone's pumped. Maybe we'll have to do morning or early afternoon sessions.

I vote for Dark Heresy. If for no other reason than we have never played. Besides basic D&D has never been a big draw for me. AD&D is the preferred vehicle.
Ah yeahhhhh, lay down that R P Gee love. I can swing both ways baby. Let me know what you decide to run so I can prepare for it.
