Ok, completely not safe for work. But, saw this posted on the internets and I can't stop laughing. For some reason, I keep thinking this would be something Aaron would do.

DID I MENTION THIS ISN'T SAFE FOR WORK?

| I like hats

Put the tin-foil hat away

nEvAr forget 9/12

| But what about all the other times people bought lots of Options and Nevar Forget 8-12 DIDN'T happen?

That is all.

Oh yeah, and I live next to a supar incredible state park Nisene Marks where after like a .2 mile hike downward, there is a sweet clearing with a fire pit and two picnic tables under almost a complete canopy of rad redwoods and other such trees. When I discovered this spot, all I could think of was Nisene Con 2007.

Also, any one heard/partaken of Geocaching?
If Mr. Bean and Squidward had a baby, would Aaron have a clone?

Put on your tinfoil hats and dance the blues:

29 August 2007: In the weeks preceding the 2001 attacks on America, there were very significant financial warning signs that something big – and bad – could be about to happen. Huge surges in purchases of “put options” on stocks of United Airlines and American Airlines, the two airlines used in the attacks, and “put options” on Merrill Lynch & Co., and Morgan Stanley, stocks of two financial services companies hurt by the attack were noted. Put options are essentially “bets” that a stock or stock index will drop on or before a certain date; the larger the drop, the bigger the gain for the purchaser of the option.

Fast forward to the present day, and we have the same type of trading that took place in the days that preceded the 9/11 attacks – but on a larger scale. Nearly $1 billion of “put options” have been purchased, basically betting that Standard and Poor's 500 index will fall significantly by the third Friday in September. A large number of these options have also been purchased calling for 50% decline by September 21, 2007. For example, a 5% drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average would be the current equivalent of about 670 points. A decline of 11% would equal about 1,470 points in today’s market. Obviously, larger drops, such as a 50% decline, would cause an unprecedented market collapse. Money would be made for the purchaser(s) of the put options – but the same purchaser(s) stand to lose over $1 BILLION in the investment if the market remains relatively static through September 21, 2007.

The questions are: who can stand to lose $1 BILLION, who will gain in the wake of such a devastating collapse, who are the investors, and what do they know that we don’t?

| The Giants Are Not A Good Team

I went to a Giants game today (won a ticket at work, got to basically take the whole day off to see the game -- sweet). They got shellacked 8-0 by the Rockies. Wow, they're terrible. It reminded me of my horrible year in Little League. Remember how sometimes you get to swing until you hit? Trust me, that's not a blessing, it's a curse. Because the more you miss, the more frustrated you get. I remember having to swing like 11 times to hit the fucking ball one time. So, I know baseball can be a frustrating and difficult sport. The main difference is, I was not being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for my baseball skill.

I mean the Rockies didn't even seem to be that good either.

At one point someone from Colorado hit a ball to mid-left field and Bonds dove for the ball, and just completely whiffed it -- like, he dove eight seconds too early. On the train back I was listening to some bummed Giants fans and one of them was like, "Well, at least I got to see Bonds dive for the ball. I never thought I'd see that! Sure, he missed, but at least he tried!"

Wow.
Sci-Fi channel. Right. Now that you have reminded me, the real reason I am behind is that I started behind and have relied on the DVDs. Since the DVD releases lag more than one season behind the first run broadcasts. I am just too lazy to look up the names/order of the third season episodes and then hunt the viewings down in TiVo. Yeah I am lame.

| Sci-Fi d00d!

It's on Sci-Fi!!!! (coming from the guy who also has not seen most of this past season either. Or Heroes, though I would consider both of them to be my favorite shows. Those and Headbangers Ball.)

eLzar, if you would like to arrive in the fine eve of Friday and crash, you can pull up some nappy zone at least here. For the convention tyme gaming concerns, in the immortal words of O Rugs, "I have no agendas."

Rude: I have not watched any of the Third Season of Battlestar. Sometimes I wish I had HBO, but I will wait for the DVDs. The first two seasons were awesome.

I had totally missed out on the last half of Battlestar Galactica this season, but after watching every half-decent movie from the library and playing all kinda shitty nethack kinda games on my computer, finally went ahead and watched the last 6 episodes. WOW, that shit ended all crazy again! This next season is the last, and I think they're like "fuccck it!" and just goin all nutty. Coool. Rad fucking ending to the season.

| Conquest SF

- First off, all the lads from LA should totally come up for the con; it will be fun.

- Second off, for those of us in SF (and surrounding areas), Leslie mentioned in passing on the phone the possibility of me getting up there on friday night before the saturday con visit. Could that work if I headed up early? Sleep on someones floor? Get some Pre-Con Festivities in? I am actually considering (need to run by the Mrs. first, of course) getting to the hotel WAY early on friday to do some Combat Commander: Pacific playtesting, but we shall see.

- Nexus Ops is totally simple gamin' fun!

- Any games in particular anyone wants to play friday night/saturday? I wanna play (and fail to get anyone interested): Hammer of the Scots, Twilight Struggle, ASLSK (why do I even bother?), Tide of Iron, NEXUS OPS, and maybe Ave Caesar and Cowboys: Way of the Gun. Ideas and wishlists from anyone? Some Cribbage Jon?

- I am sleeping better at night now that I need to sleep under the covers comfortably, rather than on top, sweating.

- I about peed my pants watching the most recent episode of Flight of the Conchords. There is a very funny LotR song and video they do that totally caught me off guard. Funny.
