| I'll Rage Quit You So Good

This is gonna be the most extreme rage quit of all time. I'm talking crying, tantrums... make sure you record that shit for Kovox 3.

Anyway, my original plans for the weekend are not possible because of some car problems, but the upside is I should be around either Saturday or Sunday day/night to get in whatever part of a game I decide to play.

Saw the new Harry Potter tonight. I liked it OK but my gf was more bothered by the differences between the movie and the books than she has been for any of the previous ones. I think all these movies are something I don't really go in expecting to enjoy that much, I kinda just see 'em cause I want to see the whole series by this point. I thought the new trailer for Sherlock Holmes was surprisingly good and actually want to see it. Robert Downey Jr has come a long way. I would never have believed five years ago that I would willingly pay movie for one of his movies.

A guy in my game group (Josh) is fired up to run 4th ed D&D, so I'm making a character. Yay, I get to play! My character is a dual axe-wielding dwarf ranger named Thorr.

| Double (Baby) Dice!

Doh, ok. Well i guess parenthood does supersede over beer, poker and games on a friday night (not by much mind you!) =)

When your done with your parental duties, look for me on skype. If i'm on my computer, i'm always logged in.

Just a note: People who don't use skype *ahem* cough, I'm lookin at you Jon-boy, I just don't understand the reasoning. AOL, yahoo and msn is for kids!

J.

| No (block) Dice!

Sorry Jael, I'm actually already spoken for tonight! Saturday night should work out for me, with the possibility of afternoon nap time for Wylie on either day. I can't commit 'cause I got Wylie duty most of this weekend with Leslie going in to work.
Does that mean I'm supposed to play Jon next? If you can schedule me a different opponent I'd appreciate it seeing as I have no interest in playing a rage-quitter. Thanks.
Sure hands indeed... you'll be repeating that mantra when your bobblin' the ball all game!

Fridaynight Gametime Special - 8:30 ish. Meet you on the pitch.

| Beastman SPP, indeed, thou knowest thine!

In my first game against Rudy, two of my beastos just happened to only get points. My first beasto just happened to be in the right place for a bunch of badly hurt results, and at least one, if not both, were actually in defense, and the other guy scored one touchdown, and then happened to be following another beasto when that guy was gonna score, then got knocked down and he ended up picking up the ball and scoring again.

The chaos warriors did not play a very aggressive role in that lizzie game, the mostly just stood up and maintained their position tying up the kroxigor and saurus block in the center of the field. They were just meat shields.

I am rethinking my choice of 'block' for one of my beastos. It is such a knee jerk response, but I think I could have used another 'sure hands' now that I think about it...

RE: Rage Quitter, ie Jr0n: Totally sucked. It was shaping up to be a really good game as my beastmen were actually softer than elves. I was about to score (unless my chaos warrior with assistance blitz went horribly wrong) on I think the 6th or 7th turn, and by that time I think I had one badly hurt beasto (from the first turn, MAYBE 3rd block?) and at least 2 or 3 KO'd beastos. Those skaven were brutal! As Jr0n put it, "it was shaping up to be one for the ages". I agree.

| You down with SPP? Yes, you are knowing me!

Break your computer when you play me Jon, I'd appreciate it.

That new Special Edition Monkey Island is sick! You can instantly switch between new/old graphics, so cool! I've totally forgotten a lot of the puzzles too, so it's been good.
oh man.... Have to recount, but I don't think anyone has ever defeated Eric in BB since starting fumbbl. Personally i think he sabotaged your laptop and unplugged it while unbeknowst to you! I'll have to face the firing squad in a day or so and take on the juggernaut. It should be a good fight though, since his SPP points are mostly allocated to his weaker beastmen. Chaos warrs with block would be hell to defeat.

I'm coming for the throne biatch!

| HUGE BUMMER!

Oh man I'm so sad right now. Aeryk and I started our game and it was off to quite a good start (maybe he can summarize, I'm too stricken with grief). We were in turn 6 of the first half fighting a fierce positional battle over whether his Chaos would score the first point, when my computer fucking RAN OUT OF POWER and shut down... I had the power cord plugged into the laptop, but not into the wall... and my "low battery" warnings were getting lost behind the game.

So, that's another win for Aeryk as it counts as a "Rage Quit" for me... as if he had won 2-0.

Boo!

It was fun while it lasted.
Yeah... Digital bits don't quite compare to solid metal minis. It's kinda hard to caress and whisper into my monitor. And you can forget about licking it.

I'm going to try to get BB soon. Been kinda preoccupied about work recently. In that I may not have one. So, either way I'll have time to play or I'll have lot's of time to play, drunk!
Concerned....

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/17/sports/football/17cowboys.html?_r=1&hp

This article has made me concerned at how we have progressed. Am I wrong to quote from the movie, when grachus said

Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar...

So basically, the governement coos the public by spending 325 million in tax incentives with a lavish "Colliseum". The money which could be better appropriated, when state woes and bankruptcy and citizen hardships are around. wow... now thats egregious.

| Time Enough At Last

It's sort of like that Twilight Zone episode. All this guy wants is to be left alone with his books and once he finally is, he breaks his glasses. After years of mocking, one AT member is playing in a BB league and I am too far away to partake. Woe is me. Maybe I should get another pair of glasses? :P

When I am not crying in my beer about it, I am ELATED that we have a BB league going with the new game! I am scheduled to play against Jr0n this evening to close out Day two and it is totally fun! A few AT members are suspiciously missing from the league:

- Denis? WTF? Though I suppose playing a minis game with digital minis must sort of eliminate much of the fun and satisfaction.

- Enron? Hmmmm?

- Ryan? Did you check the specs on your lappy? Are they too low? Are you in Hawai'i yet? I hear laptops grow on trees there.

| Wow.

99% of the blog is taken up by Blood Bowl talk. There is an online league and Jon is actually participating in a board game league!!!

Eric's dream comes true.
Jon / Aaron: did I leave my oakleys and keys in either of your houses? less likely jons. but i'm wondering if I left it in Aarons place.

let me know. thanks

| Blood Bowl Detour

Wasn't able to get in a game against Aeryk tonight because the board game version of my game group's Blood Bowl league started up tonight. My Amazon team, Venerea Gloria! is off to an OK start, 1-1 tie against the dwarves, which I actually feel OK about because most of the dwarf team has tackle, which utterly negates my main ability (Dodge). Long version...

I did all right and came really close to winning. The game started off with a fight at kickoff which lasted 3 whole turns. After that the game was off to a proper start. Jordan created an effective defense for a couple turns but then inadvertantly left a nice fat gap in the middle which I was able to exploit. I ran up and my blitzer Chlamydia managed a TD two turns later. Jordan had two turns left in the half to beat up some Amazons, whcih he did with great joy. At the half, I had four playrs knocked out cold and none recovered, leaving me with eight players in the second half.

Despite this I ALMOST managed to score in the second half as well, knocking down his runner while he was well upfield, and knocking the ball into the crowd, which was then thrown into the middle and being picked up by his other runner, who I also knocked down the next turn. The ball subsequently and bizarrely bounced around between four or five people before finally coming to rest on turf. Chlamydia then managed to grab the ball and throw it to a linewoman standing right by the scoring zone... but the throw missed! Even with a re-roll!

After that Jordan was able to recover and build a brick that moved down the field, scoring at the top of turn 8 despite an amazing last-ditch run attempt by my catcher (she made 5 dodge rolls, only to fall right at the feet of the ball carrier). We had one turn to vindictively beat on the dwarves, to no avail. In fact, the last event of the game was one of the linewomen falling on her face.

MVP: Chlamydia!

| Day 2 Summary Recap

Day 2 was another great day of BB! The match was a teeth grinder all the way though. First half started with the Orks winning the coin toss and electing to recieve first. However, bad die rolling plagued both teams from the get-go, with Rudy quickly blowing 3 rerolls within a matter of a few turns. The Orks also had their fair share of cursed die rolls, if not more. Ork Blitzers tried dodging out of tackle zones 3 times, needing only a 1 or a 2 to succeed, but dismally failed in all their attempts, tripping over the soft and plushy lizard tails. The orks also failed to pick up the ball with no one around on several crucial moments.

As Rudy mentioned, not having purchased any team rerolls didnt' help, and in a way it was deserved. However, in Orks defense, they are a pretty expensive team to field, and electing to choose better quality players over rerolls is a concious decision. In a long campaign, this works, as rerolls can be purchased subsequently, however, missed SPP points cannot be regained.

Anyway, the first half had all sorts of crazy difficulties keeping possession of the ball. In one wierd event, the ball bounced around through no less than 10 adjacent squares!

Second half turned out to be much more exciting for the crowd! Shaking off the nervous game jitters, both teams looked better, like seasoned rookies and not thumb-sucking retards . Rudy scored in 3 turns with a cohesive and well planned strike on the right side, and his skinks laid a nice protective path.

Even though the Orks played a full defensive position with 6 players in the back field, slowed their adversaries an extra round, but could not prevent the lizards from zig-zagging their way into the end-zone.

The damage to the dino-lizards is obvious though. At this point several of the skinks and lizards were badly injured. The Orks initially fumbled the ball, but recovered, and with a well connected pass-handoff-run, scored! With 2 turns remaining, rudy was down to 3 skinks, 1 kroxigar, and 3 lizardmen. Had there been more turns, the dino-lizards would have been in deep trouble. The game sounded in the nick of time saving the dino lizards from certain fate.

End score 1-1

Jon- it's up to you to stop Eric and his chaotic lot. Hand him his first LOSS. doit! Just be careful he doesn't pull some BB magic and do some crazy hynotic shit. Ayght?

| Day 2: Dino Dudesss vs Johnny's Angles 1-1

Good game! Me and Johnny had a fun match tonight. I'm friggen exhausted so I don't think I got it in me for a good recap, but hopefully Johnny will handle that. I score first on a sick running play and then Johnny scored in the 2nd half with some rad ork passing action (!) and the best part is, Johnny plays with 0 rerolls.
Anytime, anytime. Those cheap $20 dollar skanks are gonna be fodder for the Orks meat grinding machine.

Man... this weekend was pretty nastalgic. Went by artesia, aviation, rosecrans, passed by Mira costa, most of the stores are still there! Jon's liquor, unbeliveable. Guess selling porn is a great business and got wiked women there. Good shit.
I didn't get home till almost midnight johnny so you're off the hook for tonight. No such luck (maybe?) for tomorrow (perchance?)FOR SOOTHER!?

| Oh dang Aeryk

Look how you totally called out Rude by spelling the word LOSS in all caps in your post. As if to emphasize that he did not WON, he LOSS.

Also there were 107 words in your words. 1, 0, 7 add up to eight. Your post had TWO words in the title. Eight divided by two is FOUR which is the number of players in the league. Then when you divide that by four, the number of teams, you get ONE. Meaning, you are subliminally bragging you WON the game, but also you are claiming that you are number ONE, ie, further boasting you will win the league.

I'm on to your game.

Monday, July 13, 2009

i'm on for a game. Just look for me on skype, i'm usually on it.

| Point based

I don't really remember if there was even an option to change how the season scoring happens, I think by default it scores a WIN = 3 points, TIE = 1 points, LOSS = 0 points. That is the standard English Football scoring and I think it is applied here as well.

I can't remember even having the option to change that. In our leagues case, it is a round robin I think, so at the end of playing each other team twice, the team with the highest points will be seeded first to fourth, then a two round playoff (I think), and then VICTORY!
I'll be home by like 9 or 10 this week to whoever's left for me to play. So with Johnny/Jons game a tie, how do you seed them? I know, 4 person isn't a HUGE tourney, but how do they usually handle these things in sports that allow ties?

| Day 2

Day 2 has begun!

Agreed, there were some unfortunate luck related deaths and serious injuries in our last game. 2 game changers for sure was the first or second turn send off of one of the Dino Dudesss Saurus players for fouling a beastman facedown on the pitch. The second changer was the badly hurt result for the Kroxigor being fouled. That took off two big heavies that could easily toss around my beastmen. It let me start to walk all over the skinks and gang up on the remaining saurus'. Eventually another saurus left the pitch and it was all over by then.

Quite manly to stick it out til the end and keep the score respectable despite overwhelming odds!

Up next? Skaven vs. Chaos and Lizzies Nipples vs. Orcs!
Eric destroyed me! 2-0. Mostly I fucked up my strats coupled with some shitty luck. But more my decisions than the luck, so next time I think I'll have a better idea of how to follow-thru. GG

| G.A.Y.

Giani Always Yearns (to not be destroyed by Rudy's entertainments)

I dunno, I couldn't finish Borat and Bruno looks even more uncomfortable! But for whatever reason, I totally loved his shows, mostly the British version - whatup mike :)) (Double chin smile.) From the show there was that clip of Bruno going to a neo-nazi punk show and interviewing people there. That shit was hilarious.

I saw The Hangover though, funny ass movie.

Eric, I'm mostly home today/tonight so send me a txt message or whatever. Jon/Giani, we can play a public league match later if you want with different teams, I don't give a F.

| 2 AM!?

Is that Manhattan Beach time or something??? My clock said around midnight when I posted the results of the game last night....

I'm open to getting in another game tonight, if Rude or Eric finish their match before that.

Saw Bruno yesterday. I didn't laugh as much as in Borat but it was still pretty damn funny. These movies have two elements. First they have the obviously fictional bits which are about the character's life and backstory (Bruno's life in Austria, Borat's life in Kazakhstan). Second there are the parts which feature interactions between Cohen and unwitting members of the populace. In Borat both elements were really solid, all the faked Kazakhstan crap like the anti-Jew nonsense and Borat's village were witty. In Bruno the stuff about his life was sort of weak.

However star of the show, the interaction parts, are about as funny in Bruno as they were in Borat, and in many ways are even more outrageous and crazy. Fortunately that's what the movie is more and more about as it goes on, culminating in the world's gayest cage fight in front of a bunch of absolutely shocked and stunned redneck homophobes.

Long story short, starts out a little weak but gets better and better as it goes along!
Good game good game! lasted until 2 am in the morning. Slow start for the orcs but nevertheless, will have their run in at the championship cup. It's going to be a rough and tough series for Blood bowl, and everyone has their fingers in the pot.

Game on! You guys hurry up and play your game, i'm ready to rock again...

| Game 1: TIe, 2-2

SUPER fun game vs. Ja-el's orcs. Ended in a tie, yeah he definitely went easy on me since I'm a noob :) but I had a ton of fun and felt like I learned quite a bit, and did OK considering it was my two and a halfth game.

Notes:
- By sheer chance, I think the Skaven suit my playstyle well. They seem to like bullshit maneuvers and that's what I enjoy.
- When you are kicking off, setting up your guys in punching distance of a bunch of Orcs is a bad idea.
- I had really good luck with knockdowns/injuries. Ja-el was slapping Skaven around like a pimp slapping his ho's and they were either not getting knocked down at all or were popping back up like punching bags. No Skaven going home to the Horned King this game, at least.
- Gutter Runners are stellar.
