| I Just Love Road House So Much

I'd say it's the defining movie of my early-mid 30's.

I like FB, although some weeks I check it constantly and then I won't check it for months. It's weird how I'm "friends" with all these people from high school but I never talk with or interact with most of them in any way besides the initial "add friend" click.

Did you guys know David Fincher has a movie coming out about the origins of Facebook? Called The Social Network or something like that. Perhaps one day some visionary director will make the film of "Rona Jaffe's The Action Team."
I don't mind the facebook interface at all. All the shit they clutter the page with on either side of the main strip is pretty garish, but the main function of it is fantastic. Sticking videos and links in there, and entire threads people can comment on is really cool. I'm sure its a matter of time before it goes the way of myspace and the next big it-thing comes along.

Blogger signs me out every few days which is annoying, but I love the AT site. Sometimes we go days and sometimes weeks without a peepers tho :(

| It's a perfectly cromulent word

I agree. Facebook just gets muddy. That interface is a perfect example of kitchen sink UI design. Inbiggened to the fullest potential. The sad part is, it works well enough to be wildly popular, despite the grumblings of many-a user. I do find the quick post and community responses very fun. Like twitter but with direct interactivity. What gets me is that I just don't feel motivated enough to log in to Facebook and post. Unlike the Action "Jackson" Team where the login doesn't seem to be the obstacle so much as coming up with something worth saying.

jr0n, you can never go wrong with Road House references.

| Facebook is harder than a blog

The thing about posting to facebook vs. a blog and then vs. twitter is that Facebook there are categories, pages, things to follow, profile expectations to keep up, etc. With a blog, its pretty much just one way, one page, and thats it. Slim to none interactivity, just the time to compose your post, log in, and actually hit send.

Twitter is even easier, smaller, faster, and ultra-meaningless. I have 'Twhirl' running on my desktop at work and it is as easy as typing what I want to say, then hitting send. Of course editing down my statement to 140 characters is a different kind of chore...

DO IT!

So we're watching "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" on CMT (Country Music Television). I'm all: "Maybe they'll play Road House next!" Two minutes later, they announce, next up: Road House.

I guess this is the kind of thing I'd put on Twitter as well? Very cool Eric!
Uggg, that sucks about rugRat.subElzar's ear issues. Daven has been going through bouts of ear infections too. My sister had a numerous bouts of ear infections as a kid. It would appear the little guy picked up the genes from mommy. Also, they finally figured out he is allergic to Red Dye. Not sure which one though.

GW, what a bunch of jArks. Really in all fairness, both Gino and Chad were actually perfect company representatives. They embodied the worst of humanity, yet were towering examples of the GW company ethos.

I can not say that I have picked up many games of late. I have been trying to cut back the "disposable income in the toilet" lately. I swear, weddings suck balls financially. At this point, I am about ready to say fuck it and get married in a sewer to save myself the fiduciary agony.

Work is killing my brain. Anyone ever get to a point when you look at your to-do list and it is so long, you just do not know where to start. That and every item you attemp to tackle ends up mushrooming to become more complicated and drawn out then initially anticipated. Oh and I have to wear ties to work now. Oh and I have to wear business suits too. Ballz. Looks like this and next month's saved money is out the door as I go spend a truck load of money on work wear. Two tears in a bucket... You know the rest.

eLzar: I still pull out the old Doom gameage every year or two. It is still a fun game. It is a shame Doom III deviated so much from the old format. The whole creepy, monsters sneaking up and punching you in the balls format just didn't feel right. I preferred the whole slug fest of I & II. I guess that is why Serious Sam was such a hit. Which I would like to play again in the revitalized version: Serious Sam HD. It has the original version content/maps, just overhauled with a new 3D engine and graphics update. Maybe I'll pony up for this one. Or not. I think it is only $6.79 on steam right now.

The tweets seem cool. Seems like I might enter more info. I rarely post on Action Team due to the lack of anything substantial to add to it. Only snippets of nonsense run through my head anymore. Then again, I got tired of facebook, so what can you do?

Eric - Sorry to hear about mini-Eric. Has he been having ear infections? My sister has a friend whose son has something similar. I don't know if it applies to your situation, but the friend put her son on a gluten-free diet and it seemed to clear up. Hope he feels better.

Oh, by the way. Have you been keeping up with GW's clampdown on the big Blood Bowl sites? They were sicking their lawyers on them. And after all these years of letting the fans do all the work too. That's a real nice way to treat your fanbase. It makes me cry to think it might even affect my miniature buying habits. /cry
Cool Eric! I just did a new one as a test and nothing popped up. Maybe it just takes time. Awesome though, and creepy!

| Twits

Can't add the same widget for both of us, so trying to figure how to configure the code for PoundRock's feed to post more than two entries...

And there you have it - two micro-blogs on one group blog site. Ridiculous.
I've been kicking those energy drinks myself as well. I was doing like 1-2 full size Rockstars or Monsters (the "zero-calerie" ones which are still unhealthy)a day and those were fucking me up. Now I'm bringing a mug of coffee from home in the morning and maybe a cup of joe after dinner if I'm up for it. Big time cutdown. I also had a dirty cold over xmas so I ended up sleeping a lot more and lost some of that edge.

I missed Torchlight for $5 bucks but got it for $10 and that's still a rad deal. Playing tons of that.

I have way less fun stuff to say than I thought :( Hey Eric, use your web magic skills to just put our twitter updates on the AT site as well - I'm pretty sure I seen that on other sights, make it work!

I'm trying to follow the celebrity psychic's halloween advice to me about writing a book and working on an outline. That shit is much harder than I thought. :( I wish my fortune had been "eat many hamburgers and lotto tickets."

| Hot Banjo-Man Updates

When I have thoughts that are of little concern, or want to post a snippet of something at work, I have just been using Twitter and sending my muse out into the aether, rather than logging in and directing it at The Action Team. I should probably stop doing that, or rather you should all get Twitter as most of you sit in front of a computer all day anyway, might as well join the Twitterati! But I digress...

LONGWINDED UPDATES:

- Wylie will be having a procedure to put 'tubes' in his ears that will allow fluid to drain and pressure to balance so he can hear again. The poor guy has been having hearing loss, and probably speech delay due to not being able to hear clearly and it only took us 9+ months of trying to get a doctor to agree with us to finally make it happen! Happy he will be a 'real little boy' now, but sad he needs a procedure, and sad that the pocketbook will exhibit more moths erupting from the place where the bills should be as well as more being placed on the head of Enron and having Enron dancing around to display how there is no money in said pocketbook. If you have seen him do this, aww yeah, you know what I'm talkin' 'bout!

- Wasted money and picked up some mad games, yo, during the Steam holiday sale. Trine and Torchlight for 4.99 each, Lucasarts Adventure collection (with Loom, the Dig, and two Indy games) for like 8 bones I think, LFD for 7.99, a few $2 games, Complet Doom for $12 I think, Dark Forces and Jedi Knight series for $12 also, and my big purchase of LFD2 for 33 bones.

I sit at my computer more that the xbox, and I already pay a fee for my computer to multiplay online called 'My Cable Modem' so I thought I would pay less for a game that I will play on this platform more, and without additional monthly fees. I like it a lot so far. My 3 second reviews:

Trine - awesome puzzle fantasy physics sidescroller
Torchlight - good if you like Diablo and are not playing WoW right now, because if you are, why bother playing Torchlight?
Lucasarts games - The Indy games are still tons of fun
Dark Forces - great sound, takes me back, can't get the mouse to look up, so maybe you never could?
Doom - Total sucker for Doom. Will play it at any time, still holds up after all these years. It's the stirred vodka martini of the FPS genre - no frills, to the point, strong, timeless.

- One of the joys of having a kid in fulltime preschool and a wife working at a school is all the sickness that we pass around like duchies. December was brutal as we were each almost sick a week, but spaced out so we had to miss all kinds of work to be home with Wylie, as well as be sick ourselves, yet go to work almost everyday out of necessity. Anyhoo, while I was sick and feeling like dying, I had a series of brutal-ass headaches that only relented once my sickeness had run it's course. I had a sore throat and couldn't drink soda or coffee and put 2 and 2 together to discover I think I kicked my caffeine addiction while sick because I went from 4 cups a day, not including Diet Pepsi's, to zero for about a week.

It was misery, and I am back on the sauce, but I am down to about a cup a day, maybe two, and/or a Red Bull at work in the afternoon. I no longer get caffeine headaches when I miss my intake for the day, so hooray!
