Bush vs. "Kennedy"

The best part of the debate was when Shrub mentioned "the Internets." Shouldn't he have said "teh?" And then talked about what a l33t hax0r he is? What an asscl0wn.

I thought Kerry did quite well, although he wasn't as good as the first debate what with his Porky Pig thing. Still, all in all, he trounced the current Prez.

glad to hear youre hanging on count mikeula! the work youre doing sounds fucking insane - goodluck mang! you're going to be a friggin doctor when this is all done! jeebus, thats awesome. true, I call myself the doctor of (self)love, but you at least will be legit. i'm a super harry potter fan these days, so I can understand how tuff school in england must be - just don't fuck up on potions! gotta get all your O.W.L.s!

i'm down for some nwn tomorrow night - still gotta get myself down to frys this weekend - maybe tonight. marathon weekend of music making for me. i gotta turn stuff in on monday (and i work that day too) so i'll shoot for doneness by tomorrow afternoon.

nuthin' wrong with jerkin' it, Jael! you're gonna get an insane build up of jizz in yer balls otherwise! just don't do it all the time, mang!

Teh Blogger says: Fuck the space-time continuum!

I should be clear for some NWN madness Sunday night, despite my vote for fagot. Eric, when is a good time to give your TS server a trial run? We should log in ahead of time to make sure it works, I think.

Still working on reducing the uncompressed images of Haylee for hosting/sharing. Aaron, Eric.. did you receive the email I sent with the video clip and image?

Best,

~O.
I say "hear" because...

... all I did was read your text, not really HEAR you do anything! It's a silly art major thing a la Magritte and "This is not a pipe".

On a side note, I was thinking about how when you get out of school and come back to the states it is going to be an Xmas like you have never seen because of all the cool games and stuff that has been released since you entered your indentured servitude to Indiana Jones and the Queen Mother. So you get Xmas, and then you get to experience the world again for the first time!!!!
Good to "hear" from me?

Not sure what that means, but whatever. Glad that you will enjoy my wake... geez, then you guys wonder why I never post?

Sorry for the lateness, but Congrats Art! Though it makes me feel that we are indeed all getting older, its nice to know that the Action Team will pass on to the next generations! Congrats and best wishes for health for you and the extended family!

Righto, back to writin' -- rate = 2500+ words per day! Most of it rubbish, but there you are.

Open Hizouses

I will be out of the house saturday and sunday from around 1 - 5 for open houses. The open houses are from 2 - 4 but I want to be out early and return late, so probably not until sunday night for gamin goodness. Let's say, unless something changes sunday, we do it sunday night at say, 8pm? Is that cool? We can do the talking server thing too!
Hey guys, how about some NWN on Saturday or Sunday? Day or night, anytime is OK for me. I guess I should get the ball rolling. Saturday afternoon, 3:00-dinnertime. Yea or nay?

(If nay, suggest another time....)
Don't say the "M" word.

I am morbidedness (more business) free for about a week and a half now and counting. The temptation of 8 minutes of pleasure won't temp me! I'm gonna wait. I dont' know what I'm waiting for but maybe God will take pity on me and send me a wife or I might die. we'll see.

(FUNNEH!)

On wife, child.. I'll tell you what. It really sounds overly simplified but when it comes to finding your permanent significant other, all you have to do is find your best friend that just happens to have opposite plumbing. Best friends before everything else.. and everything else just has a way of working itself out.

=]

Ok.. so I'm in my man cave and working on downloading pictures and video to share. Might have this stuff ready to rumble sometime this afternoon. Weeee!

Late,

~ Daddy O.

BTW.. once you've finished the original NWN campaign, I HIGHLY suggest going through the Stephen Gagne module series "Penultima" as a funny tongue in cheek but still highly entertaining campaign.

Second BTW.. we should maybe consider downloading and playing the "Dreamcatcher" series as a group. I played it solo a ways back and it was absolutely amazing.. and the notes indicate that it supports as many as 4 players I think?

Hey Johnny, why don't you try masturbating? That will make you less bored for easily five, eight minutes! Although then you'll be back to being bored and, most likely, filled with malaise.

Another thing you could try is LOOKING AT MY MAP!!! :) Guess I forgot to get that again....
Congrats Art!

I'm jealous about the two things you just mentioned, wife and pregnancy, in a good way. I hope someday I'll find the right person. It's soooo difficult. Everyone I meet is wrong wrong wrong, too young, too wild, too crazy??? (Recently, this just happened again.. meet girl = pretty, witty = ain't happening. I don't even feel like playing NWN anymore. Anyhow, don't want to drink alone, as a precautionary measure, so I'll drink one for you in spirit. Good job~!

Mike: Hey! How are yah?

Rest of the world: I'm bored.

Jael
Weee!

Hey, thanks fellas! I'm on break while Haylee is taking a nap with mom, trying to get caught up on emails and news and why my Oakland Raiders looked like total assclowns last weekend (and are likely to be embarassed again this weekend).

Ry, you know.. it's funny because I always said that getting married and/or getting someone pregnant were the two scariest things EVAR.. and now they're the two things in my life that make me the most happy.

=]

We just finished giving her first at-home bath. It's so hard to believe in a non-surreal way that she's only a day old and here to stay.. if that makes sense. I'm operating on very little sleep and a lot of adrenaline/endorphins (sp).. so forgive me if I'm rambling like a total loon.

New patch out for NWN, aparently. I haven't downloaded it or checked out the readme.

Ok then! Going to go doze and watch a little CSI or something.

Late,

~ Daddy O.

Congrats Art! During high school, I never would have expected YOU would be the first person to spawn offspring. I'm sure you will be a great dad, and I wish you and your wife all the best. I can't wait to see pictures, but please don't put a link to a video of the actual birthing process. I saw it once in Health class and I nearly barfed. I am going to be a great help when it is my turn, but I guess I should probably find someone to date first.

Hey Eric, WTF? You ask Jon about stylistic writing, but you don't ask the English teacher and former editor of UCI's paper and former editor of Mira Costa's La Vista? Was it because he was the NEWS editor and I was the lowley sports editor. You forget, I taught Tim Lewin everything he knows. And he was teh best.
awesome art! total congratulations to you and your wife and your new baby girl! Glad everything went smoothly!

-rude
Congratulations Art! I will drink a beer for you and your expanded family. This will help me overlook the fact that I am drinking alone, during the day. In the background: a fire truck.

Hmm, it appears a cat is smelling my toes. That must be interesting since I've been walking around since this morning. I rode a few train lines and checked out Fisherman's Wharf. It was cool, but a little touristy-feeling. Also, that kind of place is probably better with another person. "Hey, look, an Alcatrax shop!" "Then let's buy paraphernalia!"

Eric, what I do is italicize longer works and "quote" shorter works or parts of a longer work. That is, a movie, a book, or an album would be italicized; a short story or a song would be in quotes.

Eh, I'm kinda bored and tired. Let's get to work on that beer!
Amazing

Absolute congratations Art! I am really happy for you and Michelle, it is just unbelieveable. It's also good to know that God wasn't watching all the horrible things you did as a kid and punish you with a demon for a baby.

A quick note from my new book Eric's Non-Experiential Parenting Tips:

Don't do to Haylee what we did to David and Carrie, they just don't turn out right if you do. But let your friends do those things, cause what fun is having a friend with a kid if you can't twist their minds and torment them?

Also teach her that Nazi's are from Mars.

And, make sure you have lots of great books around the house for her to explore once she is of age, like America: The Book (teh funniest shit EVAR) and the Kama Sutra.

Congratulations!
Mossssst excellllllent...!

At last, my spawn has been brought into the world to wreak much love and happiness upon the masses!

=]

Uncle E, you are absolutely correct. We just got home from the hospital, set everything up in the home, I fed the troops (well, Michelle did the honors for Haylee, anyway!) and are now relaxing a bit and enjoying our time with Haylee Madison Nikisch, born 10/6/04 at 2:58AM, at 9 pounds, 22 inches in a natural birth.

I can't quite describe how incredibly awesome (both in difficulty and joy) the entire experience has been. She's just wonderfully alert, content and beautiful. As soon as I can download some photos and video I'll link/email/post them for all y'all!

---------

NWN: Multiclassed characters are nice, but sometimes (depending on race, other factors) you will encounter an XP penalty. So, while fun at low levels, can kind of be a drag when you want to multi-class into one of the new "Epic" classes like Arcane Archer or whatnot.

Off to go colapse...

Jon's New Job!

- hey Jon, you can live quite comfortably in SF if you take Blogger up on their volunteer + compensation job offering! Drive to Mountain View, look at some crap for an hour, get $50! You can live like a King!!!!!!

- Good to "hear" from you Mike! I look forward to a delightful Xmas in your company, or a rousing good time at your funeral, either works for me.

- The Daily Show is the funniest show ever. Jon Stewart did one of the sweetest jobs on the VP debates, I was cry-laughing last night alone in my room. That is the sign of comedy. However, Tough Crowd immediately following hosted by Colin Quinn is less funny. Sealab 2021 is then funny again, and then QVC isn't.

- I am poised to kick all your sorry asses at FF pickem this week. I have done my homework, made my calculations, chose my teams, and I think I will go 14-0 this week. Also, if Art and Ryan and Aaron could all forget to make their picks, that would really help me out and let me do some catching up. Plz Thx. NOTE: My Rotisserie matchup against the Placeholders bodes well too, Priest Holmes is on a bye week against me!

- I'm going to go out on a limb and say "Congratulations" to Art on the birth of his Haylee! He hasn't been around a for a few days, so using my powers of deductions and logicness, I conclude without a doubt, he is a daddy!

- BTW Jon: what is the protocol and rules for bolding, quoting, or italicising names of TV shows, movies, books, song titles, short stories, etc. Maybe using italics on the TV shows was wrong and now I look like a stupid asshole.
I'm out of it for a little while and everyone gets delusions of grandeur!

Sorry to have been AWOL for such a long time guys, but as you may have figured out by the fact that I'm not back in SOCAL yet, I'm overrunning on the PhD, and am now having to work my ass off just to try to finish by Christmas. If I don't, I'm pretty fucked, so I'm working as hard as possible to write and write and write, and have been since I got back from Italy.

I've also had to move house, and am now living in an email black hole, besides having my laptop's screen die, so that the only way that I can make anything work is by posting from the lab, where I'm supposed to be writing!

Anyway, yes, I am alive, but don't expect me to be much fun for a few more weeks. Of course, I'd be surprised if you had expected me to be fun in the first place. Hope that everyone's well. Once I'm done, I'll spend about a month reading the blog to catch up, and then I'll be home, well, hopefully!

Miss you all, and can't even begin to explain how painful this writing up procedure really is...

Damn

I had to force myself to sit at this computer and write a blog and update my FuseBall Phantacy Action. After 3 hours for a friend and then working 10 hours at my AAA job on Monday and getting home at 3:30am, I had to turn around and get up at 9:00am so that I could be in Gilroy at 11:00am. Then after I was done in Gilroy I had to hop in the car again and fly up to SF to work. Didnt get home until 2:30am. All said a 15 hour day. Tonight, SF until god knows when in the morining. Boooo.. Thursday night and friday night I will be in Sacramento working. more boooo... I dont get paid enough for this crap. I have decided I dont like large companies. The worst part about all this is that I have been dreaming about the worst parts of what I do at work for the past 2 nights. So I get up and I feel like I just got back from work, when in fact I have to go a few hours later. D'oh. So in other word I am not dead, just wishing I was.

Don't be so concerned about me as about Myke Hunt hAndersen. Jon seems to think Dr. Futbol was hoping to finish by august, but may finish by October. I dont rememeber the October part. I thought he said if I am not done by August he was screwed and that it would take until December. I hope he is doing good. Piss on your well. Wells are for drinking.

Jon, indeed your pad is very cool. Too bad you have to give it up in three weeks. It's the perfect place for gaming. I will find some time to hang with you.

Nobody's Gonna Get Laid!!!

Rodney Dangerfield has returned to the earth from whence he came. I know that you guys probably didn't give that guy any respect, but he gets my props for Caddyshack. And a good episode of The Simpsons. "One time I sawr a blimp!"

C'mon Johnny, can I hear an "Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust"?

Didj'all check out the debate? I thought it was fairly even with both guys occasionally sounding awkward (although at their worst, both were miles better than Fuckmouth Bush). I listened to it on the radio, though, so I missed the body language that ends up being so important in these.

My day was 5% job search, 45% walking around town, 50% staring at HeroScape pieces. In my opinion it's a very solid lite wargame with tons of expandability potential and really nice production values. I like it!

I also sawr a pirate supply store. This town is pretty rad.
ya mon - im only level 7 in the beginning of ch. 2, and i kinda regret getting so used to using my henchdudes. also, i glanced at a walkthru, and there are like 5 or 6 major quests i never did (the fucking zoo one!?) - so, once i get some ears (in ch.2 here) im gonna use the cheat where u give the guy your bounty, he gives u xp and money, and then u pickpocket the ear back, and repeat, forever. i know thats kinda weak, but i need some better gear! (that trick also works w/ fentwhick and the notes in ch.1)

-McCheatsies
good luck with the baby!... keep walking.

Jon: yep, that was funny. She's got her charms.

Art: No way! Multi-cl-Ass is the way to go! I took ur hints and now I'm using one fighter /multiclass thief to run through the gauntlets. That way i get ALL the xp. Mr undergallows is cool, but gaining 2 -3 thief levels will allow you to pick most locks and traps. For the ones that don't open, there's bash.

Rudy: The monk becomes i would say the most powerful fighter in chapter 2. Chapter 1 he still kinda sucks. The only problem with henchmen is they steal your XP. For example, the first time I played I was 7th level? or 8th by the time I reached chapter 2. This time I'm 10th.

Let's rock with some NWN!

Hey! I'm interested in voice chat. The only things I'm worried about are not having access to the router, and the overhead on my computer (I am below the minimum specs for NWN and chug a bit already). I will need to join Rudy's $1-mic club too.

Maybe when we play "serious" games (non-hack/, w/ DM), I could go to Johnny's place and use his laptop? I have a PC copy I could install on it. That'd solve everything.

Aaron, Aimey and Johnny have been quite hospitable so far. Aaron is currently working something like his 97th straight hour installing windows XP for his heartless corporate masters. Johnny, I had a good time the other night. In retrospect it wasn't gentlemanly to laugh, but it was SOOOO FUNNY when your friend coughed that piece of hot pepper onto her plate. "Urggh" ... splat! I keep seeing it in my head!
It is official

The teamspeak server works! I think. I can talk and hear myself now, so at least I can teamspeaklink with myself as I sit alone in my room....

But the question is do we need to get Roger Wilco working or is using a speaking option for gaming not even interesting to Jon the Mac User? Need to know!

Oh by the way..

Regarding conversations.. keep in mind that there are plenty of situations wherein you are rewarded for carrying on a conversation in a particular manner in which to obtain full-disclosure and additioanl information. Especially with "central" characters, make sure you click on them once in a while to see if they have anything new to say in their conversation options.

For henchmen, I'm particularly fond of Mr. Undergallows if I am neither a theif-type, sorcerer w/ fairy (unlocks shit!), or Mr. Beefcake 18+ strength. Many times, I'd bring him along and then "park" him in the entrance to whatever dungeon/building/etc it was that I was charging into so that I'd get all the XP, and then could go back for him later if I needed something unlocked or if there was a particularly ugly combat area in which I needed his help.

I just got done playing that Paladin series I was telling you fellas about, so I thought I would download a module entitled "Blackguard" for a little taste of the darker side of things. Man.. what a HUGE disappointment in the narrative/conversations thus far. Especially in comparison to the extremely well written modules I've played to date.. it reads like a middle schooler dumbass trying to be cool.. and falling incredibly short. So, you go around mindlessly and meaninglessly killing everything that isn't marked as a plot-invincible-character. Mostly, with introductory conversational gems like "Ha Ha Ha! You STUPID MAN! [attack]"

Might have more fun going through the original module as a bad guy instead. I only downloaded the module because it had a 9+ rating on the sequel.. so maybe I'll skip to the sequel and ditch the volume 1. It's incredibly bad so far. It's just missing some 'yo momma' jokes and perhaps a little 1337-speak to really push it over the edge of "OMG LOL ITS SO FUN TO BE BAD AND NOT GET GROUNDED!"

Anyway.. I'm off to bed.

late,

~A.
Magical Weapons.. weee!

Yes, you can enchant weapons to make them even more fun and uber.. you need two things:

1) Mr. Forge Man. Available in Chapter 1 or 2.. somewhere in Neverwinter city itself.. so I forget which chapter that is. However, you don't get the really juicy weaponry/armor/etc at the forge until chapter 3 or 4. Make sure you save any diamonds, adamantite, iron wood that you come across. You'll really wish you had them later when you meet Mr. Forge Man (who will give you a book on what components/items are needed to get shit taken care of).

2) Components. Like I said.. see above. Some of the nifty weapons require either dragon blood or fairy dust as well. There is a forge in Neverwinter city as I mentioned before (which I think you need to ask for "special" inventory from some ogre store-owner guy to get access to?)

On baby: I'm going to bed now in anticipation of another super-fun day-plus of uncertainty, pain, monotony, boredom, and suffering (barring actual quick-arrival of Haylee into the world, anyway!)

Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Best,

~O.
goodluck with all the baby stuff art! god, i can't even comprehend how tough it must be. It'll all work out fine, but it sounds hella stressful so far.

nwn: when i read jael say he played nwn for 7 hours the 1st weekend he got it, i was all "damn - i wont do that!" well, i think i probably did more than that. I split it up with breaks to jerk-off or eat, but my sunday (and most of today) has been non-stop nwn'ing. god - my eyes hurt. and my soul - i hate video games for the life they drain from me!

well - i beat chapter 1 and I just started up the ch 2 - pretty awesome game. i'm getting where jon was with not caring so much for all the dialog. i mean, its rad that its there, and most of it is pretty good, but fuck, just get to the point!

im playing a ranger and i have a dire wolf companion, heh. I also charm rabid dogs when i can, so it's pretty funny looking. ya - random treasure can be kinda burnt.
how do i enchant my own weapons? i was reading somewhere that all those random stones n shit u get can be used to make yer weapons magic. and as far as henchmen go, i didn't really like the monk so much. the cleric and thief have been my best companions and also the half-orc fighter. haven't tried the others yet.

no more. ever. no more.
Botswana.

Well.. spend the greater part of the last 72 hours at the hospital with Michelle in "labor".. I use quotation marks because while there were plenty of contractions, there hasn't seemed to be much of any forward progress with the cervical dialation. So, today was a day of rest (I've slept for nearly 18 hours since 11pm last night).

I'm frigging exhausted, frustrated... et al

On a side note, I actually fired up "Midnight", the second chapter in the paladin series (Twilight is the first) and finished it today. I hadn't realized how close to the end I already was. So, that was cool, but a little frustrating as well to only get to play for such a short period of time.

If any of you fellas hasn't done so, it is absolutely required for you to play both of these modules after you finish the original Bioware chapters. Granted, waiting for the final installment, "Dawn" to come out is a little bit maddening.. but the first two are so damned good, it's a crime not to play them out.

So.. back to baby news.. we're scheduled to go in tomorrow morning at 6am again to try another induction. I'm so stoked and amped up to meet my baby girl, but so not looking forward to the continued waiting/frustration game. I think we walked every hall and square foot of public hospital grounds this past weekend (walking is supposed to promote good contractions and labor)... my feet, legs and back are killing me. I think I'm going to go to bed here again for another nap. Just thinking about doing this all again is enough to make me want to cry like a school girl. LOL.

Late,

~A.

Bonfire, jons place, and the blues

Jon has a nice apartment. It's fully furnished and rather clean from the short time I was there because little things start appearing after you are there for a while. But for the most part, at quick glance, it is well the price of 700 bucks a month. There are murals, that I wouldn't mind purchasing, on all the walls, painted by one of the talented artist roomates. All I have to say is too bad it's only for 1 month rent. Anyhow, my friend and I went to visit jon, and SFO was fun. We stopped by the last 10 minutes of a bluegrass concert with bunches o' hippies, which my friend seemed to er.... not like. (loathe is probably the more appropriate word) She seems to feel they are good for nothing, and was pretty vocal about it. I was mighty afraid of not being able to LEAVE the concert, with our lives intact.

Then dinner at some local chinese restaurant which served some good dishes. Lemon chicken, chow mein, and mango shrimp, all which were pretty good. We drove back and played pool till 1 ish.

Fun times.
Johnny
