Welcome art!  Never really knew you, but thats the life of a hardcorps gamer!

I want to get one of deez! Only 99 cents from www.democracymeansyou.com !
103 degrees today..  FUUUUUUUCK.

Aaron, I'd pay $5 to slap you in the tender meat for saying that.  Seriously.  I'd give a nut for 72 degrees year round!  You're an asshole.

LOL..

Love,

O-Rugs

Welcome aboard Art! I didn't know you were such a connoisseur of oriental jugs. Well, to each his own! I've been spending the last few weeks in a period of extended meditation. I'm forced to conclude that Art sprang full-born from my dreamscape. Was it a dream, or a butt-ream?

Wow, I was the first one to start reading Fire & Ice and I appear to be in a distant third. I haven't finished the third book yet. In the first book I liked reading about all the characters, but by the third some of the plot threads are drooping. Tyrion chapters are always good. Over all three books, the Sansa, Daenyrys, and Eddard chapters were my usual favorites.

I don't regret getting you guys into this mess! It's always good to have a book to look forward to....

My girlfriend tells me that while sleeping I asked her, "What's the name of your elf shoes?" She said, "Huh?" Then I said, "What's the name of your elf gnome shoes?" Weird.

Eric, your character summation was brilliant. Vespa getaway driver, my God.

Edit: By the way guys, a Segway is a foolish upright scooter... a segue is a transition! /spelling nazi
At least you have weather

Here is the forcast for the next five days here. It has been this way for about 8 weeks now with no variances.

Lovely.

We're having a heatwave/drought right now and it got well over 90 degrees with humidity.  I just talked to Michelle and she said the thermostat reads 88 degrees upstairs.  Now, I kind of expected things to get that warm at this point in the afternoon.. but I'm really waiting to see how long it takes for the house to cool down tonight.  I just finished installing two ceiling fans, a storm/screen door and setting up three box fans to blow out the hot air in hopes that it might bring things down to a non-furnace level relatively quickly.  The problem with the house is that it's pretty efficient at retaining temperature.. so it stays nice and cool despite it being hot out side for a while, but ultimately can't keep out the heat (by about 3pm) and starts getting rediculously hot.. and holds onto that heat until about 10pm or so despite it being MUCH cooler outside and having fans setup.    New and improved circulation/vent/blower system at Rancho Arturo is undergoing it's first dry run and test as we speak.

At least it's livable downstairs I guess.  But, tonight we will measure how long it takes to cool down the house with improvements done this week.  I may kill myself if all this work does absolutely no good for all the time and money I've spent.  They say it will pass in just a day or two and be back down to the 70's again which will be thuper.

Adios mi compadres con queso!  Buen iguana y todos los llamas tambien.

Love,

Well introductions aside...

Elrock: Nice to have such a fine run down for the team members.

Rugs: Good to hear from you. That is really a bummer how much day care costs. I guess that is why so many families choose to have one stay at home parent. Blah... At least your accounting with day care units is more utilitarian and socially acceptable than Rude's usage of Lap Dances and Popcorn as currency. Although I have to say Trading several buckets of popcorn for a lap dance would be quite a sight to behold.

Well I finished the first of the two books recommended by Elrockington, Get in the Van by Henry Rollins. Very revealing diary entries by said author during his days with Black Flag. Wow, his journal entries really let you crawl into a frightning period in his life. Besides the really disturbing and scary thoughts he has during what is obviously a severe bout of depression in his life, you get to see what it was like on the road with Black Flag. Man tough go at it. Perhaps not quite as bad as I imagine days with Sid Vicious, but pretty damn near close, sans drugs.

Rude & Ja -El: You know, the A song of Ice and Fire books are really good at hooking you in and keeping your attention, but every so often you get to a new chapter and realize, 'I dont want to read about that character right now'. I usually get frustrated at that point and set the book down for a bit. A lot of segways and sometimes characters disappear for hundreds of pages. Come to think of it Tolkien did that a bit in Return of the King.

PS Rugs: A word of advice, every once in a while blogger eats your posting when you try and publish it. Usually this happens if you take to long. I think everyone here has been bitten before by this issue. I suggest you type it out in a text editor like Word and copy and paste it to your blog when you are ready. There is nothing like working for 15 minutes on a blog to have it disappear into the ether.

Let's All Welcome Oriental Rugs to the Blog

His name is Art, some of you know him, some of you don't, but I'm pretty sure you'll all end up hating him in the end.  Aaron and I know the guy from way back, and then in HS again, thats when Ry met him, and I don't know if anyone else here actually has ever been face to face with the guy.  Lucky.

But seriously, here he is, and here is a rundown of the Action Team:

Eric aka Hemo - I keep this thing going.  My secret ability is to suffer from Hemophilia.  I am unemployed, and am obsessed with Blood Bowl.

Jon aka Ragnar - Jon is the heartless assassin.  He is a published writer, enjoys Lil' Bow Wow, and Everway.

Aaron aka Deaf Mute - This guy is the cornerstone to the whole Action Team organization, without his mindless drooling or implanted brain chip, the Team would be nothing.  Aaron is known to drink beer in his spare time, he also enjoys bukoffee.

Rudy aka DJ Highend - If you need something moved by telekinesis alone, this shady character is your man.  When not saving the world Rudy enjoys creating beats, hot pockets, and pushing the boundaries of the human eyeball by reading the entire Fire and Ice series to date on his computer.

Ryan aka R Dub - When you need this guy in a pinch, he might be hard to track down, due to his special ability of invisibility!  When he is alone he enjoys doing nothing because he is always at a pool somewhere.

Johnny aka The Monk of Death - Don't fuck with this guy, he will fucking appear in your fucking bathroom and kick your fucking fuck-ass! Oh FUCK!  When not fucking villains up, he enjoys Russian Campaign, Cocoa Pebbles, and talking to girls in movie theaters.

Denis aka Pumpkin - He is the greatest, most competant Vespa get away driver ever to grace the presence of the Action Team.  He enjoys not attending school, halflings, and robot tanks driven by fairie elves, and nothing else!

Mike aka The Professor - No one really remembers what this guy does for the Action Team, but I think it has something to do with Indiana Jones and Harry Potter.  He enjoys digging holes in dirt.

So there you have it, a brief rundown of what you just got yourself involved with.

What, you didn't recognize my picture?  I know I'm a little bit white and pasty.. but what's a brother going to do in the great white north?

edit:  LOL.. oh sure.. no more big red X.. kind of ruins the gag.  =]   Thankfully Uncle El didn't chose the pic with all the junk shoved up my nose.  Heh..

EXTEND YOUR HEAD!

Hey Eric.. when we going to hook up for a little WWII Online death and destruction?  Gotta multicrew a tank or bomber or boat or something and go have some fun with that sometime!

Was that Art?  I didn't know he was joining the action team.  Welcome Art!  You have now officially blogged 1000 times more than Mike Anderson.  Not that I should talk.  I am sunburned.
Wise man say.. man who walk through airport turnstile sideways going to bangkok!

'Sup fellas!  Looking forward to wasting many otherwise useful hours in my daily.. uh.. day here chatting about the glory days of my forever enshrined Rainbow Squad of Death.  May they make you sweat to the oldies until you puke and surrender like the overweight fat woman with emotional issues being confronted by a short gay man that you are.

Best,

O-Rug.

Randomly enlarged font brought to you today by the letters F, U, the number One and Elrock's garden gnome.

I think.

BTW.. I saw two chick flicks in ONE weekend with the wife and enjoyed them both.  What's happening to me?  I dunno.  But, seriously.. they were actually pretty good.  The Notebook was too easy to figure out but it was good enough that you didn't care and Before Sunset is a small film that is the sequel to Before Sunrise and VERY very good.. anyhow.    My first bloggeh.

Also, just finished reading "Lucifer's Hammer", a story about a comet/meteor strike and the resulting carnage and near-end-of-the-world insanity and subsequent survival of the remaining folks.  Good read, but geez.. almost enough to make a person want to move to the mountains and learn how to survive on their own production.. or something.  A little freaky, yessir.

With the impending baby coming in September, I'm officially freaking out about the cost of daycare.  $10,000 a year.  Seriously.  No shit.  TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR.

*breathing into paper bag*

I'm really not quite sure how I'm going to handle TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR.. other than maybe purchasing an unregistered handgun and soliciting donations from my local liquor store proprietors.  How do people do it?  Hell if I know.  I'm not rich, but I'm certainly a ways away from being considered poor either.  Maybe I need to quit my job, work under the table and get on the government dole or something.

{insert another 5 paragraphs of random freak out here}

Ok, so that being said.. I gotta go install a screen door and a pair of ceiling fans tonight in anticipation of our impending heat wave this weekend.. supposed to get over 95 degrees WITH humidity and I'm sure that I'm going to want to die.  We'll see if my investment has paid off or if I just wasted a full month's worth of childcare on some fans and a door.

I'm starting to measure everything in my financal life in terms of childcare units.  Dinner with the wife is now a quarter-week of childcare.  Car payment is a half-month of childcare.

Ok, I'm going now.

See ya around fellas!

I know what u mean jael - throughout all three books, there were whole storylines I really never got into (Daenarus and Sansas for example) - (i know jon really liked both of those, heh - cuz maybe he is perviert!)  But even the "Dany" chapters that take place on a whole other continent seem pretty unrelated to the other story lines, things do cross and come together quite often (especially over the 3 books) and when they do, its usually an "ohhhh cool!" kinda moment.  Good-ass book - plow through that shit!

I'm half-way thru the 2nd Harry Potter book.  It's pretty cool.  Kinda brutal to poor harry though- how many bad things can happen to him and his crew???  fucking-a!
A game of patience...

Not to raise the dead but,

this is one dang long ass whoppin book.  I'm just at the point where eric was at on Jun8th where Halden whoops the fat kids ass and thorne doesnt give a shit.

So far my take one the wildly raved book:

1)  it's good.  The Story, Lovable characters, the rounds and rounds of gratifying virgin, lustful and "mounting" sex with princesses, nonetheless.  (sex sells books, and rudys fealty) and the neat twists.

2)  it's bad.  Too many, but wonderful, characters.  It's an interesting concept.  Aaron warned me of the multiple segways.  But it seems every character can be a separate book with their independent point of views and adventures.  What happens is that the plethora of characters leads to a tiring string of character developement.  My point is, it makes one helluva long read.

3)  took me 2 days to read 250 pages.  so far I like it overall.

that's one big-bitch cockroach

Bubba Ho-tep was pretty good.  It was written and directed by the guy who did all the phantasm movies - weird.  but ya, pretty cool flick.  i'd give it a solid B rating.

PS: The GBA game Fire Emblem is pretty cool!  Just got it - from the peeps who made Advance War, its fantasy style/tactics kinda game play.  pretty cool so far. and the price was right.

More fun

Ry: Yeah I have run across the Homestarrunner page before. Funny shit. I like the one where he tries to explain how to draw a dragon.

Rude: I really like the 'Six Feet Under' Series. Aimey and I are just about finished watching the second season DVDs. The show has a lot of character development and drama plus a good bit of dark humor, which I like. Thrillin'

MORE NETFLIX REVIEWS!

Winged Migration: it was helluv good and beautiful.  Then i watched the "making of" featurette and I was like WHOA! No spoilers, but to those who've seen it and also know how it was made, did your initial impression of the flick change?  Mine did, but I still like it - just kinda weirded me out, how they made it.

The Station Agent: This one was pretty interesting.  Heard a lot of good stuff about it - it was a pretty mixed deal for me.  It's about a dwarf who lives in an old train depot, and he just wants to be left alone, but then some "crazy" cuban and some old milf start hanging out with him, and all kinds of weird, uncomfortable, non-adventures occur.  Good acting n shit, but I was let-down.

Tonight I watch Bubba Ho-Tep  - I think its gonna be good (at least outta this batch i got.)  Also on deck is some 1st season Six Feet Under, and the ROn Jeremy documentary.
 BEe-ATCH!

Has anyone ever seen this?  Maybe I am on the late train with this, but I thought it was really funny and I thought I should share.

Stupid font control

They just keep making the Blogger interface worse. Grrr... Anyway, Elrock I checked out Killswitch Engage. Good stuff. They sound like a cross between carcass (Gutteral vocals, guitar distortion, and lead guitar high pitch flairs) and hardcore. In other news, I have updated the Actionshots site to include the Kublacon 2004 images. Have at it.
