The Skate 2 demo is up (for gold members..)! It's timed (fuccck!) but awesome, the final game is SO going to be game of the year.

| Hybrid Always Seemed Interesting

Just not enough for me to get REALLY interested in it. You know me, I will gladly play a dungeoncrawl/space hulk HYBRID next time our paths cross!

- Half way through The Dark Knight and I am enjoying it! The name of the disk however is "THE_DARK_NIGHT". I think the someone in the Chinese manufacturing department of the DVD replication company needs to have their pee pee whacked over this one.

- 2 nights ago we were awoken by Cleo giving the "I'm gonna F you up gutteral growl" outside our bedroom. Since Stampy was on the bed with us, we knew this could not be a good thing. Not two seconds after I jumped out of bed to see what was going on, Cleo attacked, then the most amazing and surreal series of events followed. This bestial form in the night took off running/scrambling through the house. First to the computer room where I heard more cat growls and some crashes, then out of the computer room, onto the kitchen counter and then leaped from the counter to the large window by the deck at full speed, rebounded off the window onto the dining room table, off the table and one jumped up the stairs into the bedroom, on the bed, and then jumped at the wall, rebounded, ran back out, cleared the stairs, into the living room, jumped over the TV against the wall behind it, jumped back out, ran towards the fireplace, turned around and ended up climbing the curtains to end its run on top of the curtain pole overlooking the living room.

It was a cat that looked VERY much like Stampy if he had some swelling in his forehead, and was dusty. Same markings, same paws, same everything. So in our half awakened state, we thought it was him and maybe he was being attacked by something, or was stung or whatnot. I mean, we were pretty close to the cat and were convinced it was him, just all jacked up. As we were trying to figure out the plan of attack on the rest of the darkened house to find the creature that did this to Stamp, Cleo walked into the room. Followed by Stampy.

Evidently, this was not Stampy, but a cat we had never seen in the neighborhood before that came in through our 'cat door/window' and got cornered and attacked by Cleo in the night. Thankfully, the cat was either too scared to care, or was tame enough that it let me pull it down off the curtain bar, and put him out the front door.

Took me like 2 hours to fall back asleep after all the adrenaline exited my system. I was wrecked at work the next morning, to say the least. Neat story.

- Thanks to a generous repayment of gold from Borst, as well as a very nice gift, I was able to get Docnorvell his epic mount, AND I hit 68 all in the same sitting! I am now in Northrend and it is a pretty cool place so far! I haven't played in a few days, and I finally received a solo WWII game I preordered in 2005, so I might not return to Northrend for the next few nights, but at least I made it!

| Yay one year closer to the grave!

Completely vegetated these past weeks. Turned into a disgusting compost mound in front of my computer. Played lots of Fallout 3, some WoW and watched too much anime. Now that's the kind of lifestyle the ladies love.

I ended up buying a game called Hybrid. It is made by Rackham. Imagine Space Hulk except it's fantasy, and it's only interesting to me. Who's up for a game? I do like the fact that like Space Hulk, it is a two player game and comes with missions. No DMs doing the majority of the work like Descent or Heroquest. The only obstacle is actually painting the miniatures. Because I know finding another player is cake. Right? Right?

I actually ended up stopping by Third Planet today. They closed yesterday, so today they were doing inventory and such. Apparently someone bought their assets and plans to reopen in a new incarnation. Don't know what the new store will be or how long that will last, but here's hoping for the local gaming store. Oh yeah, there was an online article about the closing done by the Daily Breeze. There was a funny (and by funny I mean soul crushingly sad) part in the article about a recruiter coming into the store looking for candidates for the show Beauty and the Geek.

And finally, I don't think I'll be able to make it to Man-Con this time. Booooo! Roleplaying is for losers anyway. Real men go to Skid Row and harass the homeless.

| Firefly

Funny you should mention it... About two weeks ago I finished watching the series for the third time round. Its a great series that seem to really hold up well in subsequent viewings. Such a shame the way it was handled.

I picked up Halo 3 recently for shits and giggles (well more like may family picked it off my Xmas list), figuring its a good game for throwing down a quick multiplayer fight. Haven't busted it out yet. That's cool about the Firefly characters. Hopefully, it is not too silly or gratuitous. Right now I am still grinding my way through the Orange Box on the PC and GTA4 on the 360 when I do have free moments.

I've never had any interest in playing HALO 3 because, eh, Halo, whatever. But lately I've been on a total Firefly kick again! I got my dvd boxset so started watching this weekend - it's been long enough - and what a fantastic show! I even picked up the two comic tradepaperbacks that supposedly happen between the show and the movie. I have no high hopes for those, but I'm in full firefly-mode. Anyways, apparently there are 3 marines in Halo 3 voiced by the Mal, Wash, and Jayne actors (and having their firefly characters personalities) so now I got to play it!

| Ahhh.. MUNI

The love hate relationship that us SF commuters have for MUNI is palpable. It's quite frustrating too when you know they are facing another year of massive budget shortfalls. This will be the fifth year in a row. You can't run a budget that lean and not run into critical preventative maintenance issues. This leads to too many marginally running buses and trains in the system. That and a lot of the drivers seem to think work attendance is optional.

Rude: I think jr0n is right. Trying to kill a couple vices at a time is brutal.

When I was living in LA, one guy at our office was finishing up his thesis for his masters in architecture. This guy was a major smoker and for some off the wall reason decided to quit smoking during the final two weeks before his thesis was due. He came by the office to visit, a total wreck and proceeded to bum cigarettes off one of the other smokers in the office. Never mind the fact that he was already wearing two nicotine patches. Needless to say, it didn't pan out for him. Morale of the story? Timing is everything.

The special lady friend and I have been playing Castle Crashers from time to time. Its a fun little button masher that we can both get into. I could imagine that one would be fun to play as a group.

I don't think the PS3 is coming down in price soon. Sony is bleeding horridly from their gaming division. After all this time, the PS3 still costs more to produce than the sales price. Originally, the production cost (does not include shipping costs) was something on the order of $805/unit. The recent estimate based on new internal components is about $448/unit in manufacturing costs. With Sony in as much trouble as it is, I think it is going to hold the cost for a while. Including the Blu ray drive in the PlayStation has really been a double edged sword for them. On the one hand it very likely played a role in Blu ray coming out on top as the next gen DVD, but on the other hand, it cost them dearly on their balance sheet.

Quittting all of your vices at once is usually due to fail unless you have the will of a Mage or high-XP werewolf. It's why everyone I know who's in AA smokes....

My first trip to work in the new year and the bus is 15 minutes behind, which will make me late to my own meeting. It didn't take long for MUNI to make it onto my shit list.

Sunday, January 04, 2009

I tried to quit caffeine and it's kicking my ass harder than quiting cigarettes recently has (and that is a daily struggle!) SO I went and bought a fucking energy drink and 12 pack of diet coke. One day at a time!

Jon and Enron should pick up Castle Crashers! Or try the demo. It's a fun multiplayer game so would be fun to play with you guys and eric hates his friends so he won't ever get Live, just the 3 of us gals! Marble Blast Ultra is also a very fun puzzley game like marble madness and it's cheap 400 points I think. And N+, my friggen fave. Both have multiplayer modes as well, so hop on the pain train my friends.

Speaking of quitting smoking. THe physical part of the addiction was cake to quit - couple of days of headaches and grumpyness. NOW, it's the mental part that is friggen impossible... I don't even WANT a cigarette in the LEAST, but I can't seem to function for shit, at least the way I used to. My routines are all blown to hell and I basically don't know what to do with myself when I get home from work. Games, music, anything is all weird and foreign and "off" now, and I hate it. FUCK!

Yeah, Blu-Ray seems neat but I'm still too broke to get into it just yet. I wish the PS3 would have a friggen price-drop already. But, at the same time, I don't even play the 360 all day, so the PS3 would just collect dust.
