Rewinding a little bit.. and just to throw this out there:

If anyone wants to try the cutting-edge flight simulator out there right now, I'd strongly recommend the whole IL-2 "Forgotten Battles" series with the Aces Expansion Pack. It is simply dumfounding as far as quality of graphics AND simulation are concerned. The added bonus is that they're coming out with the Pacific Fighters add-on this fall which will introduce pitching carriers, Corsairs, Hellcats, numerous other fighter/bombers and all kinds of torpedo planes too! Weeeee!

BTW, Aaron, I'm kind of suprised that you've never picked up WWIIOL for the naval-action. For some reason I always remembered your fascination with battleships and destroyers and whatnot. If nothing else, you should download the full version of the game without a membership and fart around with the destroyer and river patrol boats offline. Firing salvos of 5 inch guns, torpedoes and/or triple-A barages is a hoot.
