The little 4th grade nerd in me has died. D&D with no DM? Sacrilige.

I actually ended up buying the books from Amazon. They won't be here until later this week.

From what I've read, I doubt I'll really warm up to the new edition. But it might prove an interesting read if can get past the bitter, bitter old man "hate everything new" feelings.
