Eric, knowing you like I do, you would HATE Borat. I really liked Departed and Casino Royale, but of course, I really liked Babel too, which you didn't. Hell, I don't know. I am pretty bad at guessing what you'd like. I did see a preview for Pirates of the Carribean III, which looked really cool. I am willing to forgive Pirates II. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't as good as the first one. It felt like a set up for the third movie, kind of like Empire Strikes Back, but closer to Back To the Future II. I am probably the only person in the world who really did not like Little Miss Sunshine. There, I said it. Heard Black Dalia sucked balls. Heard Eragon sucked balls too.
Two documentaries I loved:
The Man Who Skied Down Mount Everest. Won best documentary in 1975. Visually stimulating and so well done.
Mr. Death. Same guy who did Thin Blue Line. Wow. You think the film is going one direction, and then it takes a really odd turn. Such a mind-fuck.
I have been watching a lot of documentaries lately. I just finished reading Lord of the Flies with my students, and have a doc about Stanford Prison Experiment on order. Had them watch a short film called The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. The winner of the lottery gets stoned to death. I guess I have been into some really dark shit lately. Been obsessed with the idea that man is inherently evil and, given the opportunity tends to do evil things. Thoughts? :(
Sorry I have been MIA lately. I have been a hermit. Spring break is in 2 weeks. I'll come out of my shell then. Peace. I bought a new acoustic guitar by the way.
