Mango, crater, spam, blog
Having an especially excellent time in Hawai'i. I met Jordan and Yukari at the airport and got lei'd (har), and am now staying with Janice in her marvelous, rent-free, two-room apartment. It's been pretty great so far. In just a couple of days I have picked up a decent tan (as well as shedding off the remnants of the hideous burn I got at the Iron Man), eaten many plate lunches, and gone on a pretty cool hike up the Diamond Head crater.
The crater hike takes about 45 minutes and goes up an old path established by the military pre-WWI. The army used the crater for its full view of the south side of the island and placed artillery emplacements there (although they were never used). Most of the hike is up a trail, then you go through a narrow pitch-black tunnel, then you go into another tunnel which contains a pitch-black, very narrow, steel spiral staircase. Going up the stairs with tons of (mostly Japanese) people elbowing past you on the way down, in the dark, was an experience.
People here are into pretty huge meals. For $5-$6 you get huge plate lunches with massive amounts of one or more types of meat (generally barbequed), a couple big scoops of rice, and macaroni salad. Macaroni salad is everywhere in this state. I am looking forward to being over 300 pounds when I return.
The women here are amazing-looking, especially if you're into females of the asian persuasion. There are just mind-bogglingly gorgeous island girls almost everywhere. I haven't seen any Hawaiian Tropic girls yet, but I will post promptly when I do.
Hey Johnny, did you make your church sweetie see Jesus?
