That don't sound so good RuDog. I would try a driver reinstall first on the off chance a driver file or config file has been corrupted. Also if you have installed any new peripherals lately it could be a conflict. If that does not do the trick, most likely your video card is fuX0r3d. Another possibility is that another sub-system like the MoBo or the PSU is having issues and they are only manifesting themselves through the video card (sometimes power supply issues can cause these problems), but seems more the case that the 3d processor in the card has some faulty transistors or failed memory based on your description.
