OKay some redemption

guys, we can get a room at the MARIOTT which is RIGHT NEXT DOOR for 49.99. it's right next door, so thats next door and not a block away, or 2 blocks away. The definition is right next door.

I think that's a great price. I'm sorry, I'll be inconvenienced a little bit for that price, if any inconvenience at all. It's RIGHT NEXT DOOR. so we just have to cross the street everytime we want to go back to the room. I don't think that's so bad, for a savings of 85 dollars a night.

What say you all???

I've booked the room, but I can always cancel. But i don't see why we would have to....

CONVENTION FUN!

Toute Des Sucky

Lame, so the travel agent discount turns out to be bogus. My agent rate is still 127... and the convention rates vary between 120-135. So I get the same exact rates as the convention special. Yay! I want to get another poll here. Now I KNOW, the last experience at staying at a nearby con... EHP (silences the brief objections) ... but this time, how's about if I found a good rate at a hotel... let's say... across the street? That would honestly not be so bad. If you wanted to go back to the room, we just go next door. It doesn't seem that bad to me, if we can save a good 40 dollars a night. 4 nights, and that would be 160.

The Last time we had stayed at a off-site hotel, it was located a few blocks down (driving distance) . THAT obviously does not work. And plus it had shady towel services and looked hookerish. BUT this time it will be at a similar 3 star type of resort.

gimme some feedback y'all.

Eric, you really got a ticket for the SPeed pass lane? did you call in to fight it? I do feel bad, and don't think it's fair if you got stuck flipping that bill. I'm willing to split it. Let me know.

So...Tired...

Wow, I think the rental idea is a good one, except that knowing Aaron's luck, he'd end up getting screwed on the 'insurance' all the time too. 'Sorry sir, but our super-duper accident insurance doesn't cover you if your surname begins with a 'K'.'

So I've been working hard, as usual, and hitting the books -- so...many...books! Still the work is going, and maybe I will actually finish this stupid PhD on time after all. Just another couple of weeks at this pace and I'll acutually get to read some of the books instead of just scanning out house plans. Doh!

GenCon -- yes, count me in. I've missed all the Cons this year so far, so I totally want to go! Do it do it do it! Aeryk, I think you should bump the wedding plans forward and get married AT GenCon. It would be totally appropriate, and Leslie would understand (and might even like the idea, you never know! We could get a 20th level cleric to join you in holy matrimony (maybe even higher level, it is GenCon after all!)

Sleep... must sleep now...
fill your apartment with Methane and explode yourself to work

- I feel for you, mang. That sucks. You should just rent a car everytime that you need one. It would probably save you money in the end, not to mention minivans are cool. I still have not paid for the FastPass ticket I got on the drive to Kublacon from Jael's. I hope they don't have a warrant out for me.....

- As far as a commitment for GenCon, you know me, I am as committed as I can be in light of recent developments, ie my wedding 23 days after the con begins. So, I would love to say that I am in 100%, but as time passes, there may be obligations that take me out of commission for parts of the weekend. So, I guess what I am saying is, DO IT! I am committed! If I have to have MissingInActionCon again due to wedding crap, so be it, I'll still pay my part, BTW Jael I found your bill from Kublacon and will pay it shortly and Jon, you needs to tell me what I owe for WeddingCon. DO IT!

- I have two half companies of troops painted and based, as well as 5 1'x1' tiles finished. This project is going much better than the Battle Cry Miniatures Project is... though if I could find 6mm ACW figures, that would change things considerable, and the BCMP would be finished in no time! I just can't stand painting TWICE as many miniatures as there are included in the Battle Cry set, in 15mm.... My first mistake was doing it in 15mm, my second mistake was starting.

The Saga continues.

Warning: Strong bitterness below. If you are not in the mood jump to my signature now.

I hate cars, but at least I am through sulking. Yet I am back to ranting. Rudy, F the car, take public tranny, bike, walk, cartwheel to work, fill your apartment with Methane and explode yourself to work, just don’t get a car. Back to my story... I get a call this morning after I took my car into the dealership. Apparently, the mounting spindle is bent and the FUCKING BEARING is shot. Whoa! Brilliant! I only asked that question on four different occasions to three different people. SO why didn’t they figure that out before? Why, because nobody wants to do their job and troubleshoot. I hate apathetic people. People that ASSume "solutions" simply because that "solution" requires the least amount of work for them. Selfishness does not rule. Anyway the best part has yet to come. Apparently it is not possible to have a bent spindle without a collision. HMMM.. I can see where this is going. Well, their first response: it's a result of your accident. Again, another great fucking deduction Sherlock. No matter how many ways I tried to explain that I had the same damn noise 7000 miles before the accident. That bit of logic fell on deaf ears and each time I was told I did not understand what they were trying to say. Ironic. So the bottom line was they were not going to pay for the damaged part or labor as a result of an accident history. Great I can see it now. My car is smoking why? Accident.. We don’t cover that. My wheels fell off at 41,908 miles why is that? You accident did it, call your insurance company. My gas tank leaks, why? Not out problem, you had an accident you know. Anyway, I proceed to tell them that the wheels were untouched, the collision resulted in fully frontal only, and no damage was done to anything other than panels, airbag and radiator mounts. Deaf ears. Contacted my dealership in LA to call them idiots and see if they would help since they missed the problem not once but twice. Fell on deaf ears. RULE. Call up the SF dealership again and get told to tell my insurance that they missed something in the accident. Yeah that’s a great can of worms to break out. Not to mention that the noise is NOT from that accident. They ask, "How do I know?" 'Cause I drive the pile every day you dirty hookers and nothing changed from before to after. No one listens to me, I am an idiot apparently. Piss on logic, it doesn’t fit with the neat scenario I built in my head. If it does fit, I will ignore it. Ignorance is bliss. Why should they to me? It is not like I wasn't right the first time. An untrained dolt did a better job than four automobile 'technicians'. More like automobile guys. Technician does seem to denote a level of skill and intelligence devoid in the people I get saddled with. Bottom line: I am out another 440 dollars! That includes realigning the car that I just realigned yesterday. That’s a 90 dollar turd right their. Yes! So I go to the dealership @ 5pm and sure enough they aren’t done. I piss away an hour and a half and they call. It’s finished. Great I think my day is done torturing me. Nope. I get there and my only CC on hand declines. Rule, can’t get my car out of hock. I guess Ill go tomorrow with a different card. SO I get in the subway and I wait for 25 minutes for a train that isn’t filled to the brim, bubbling with humanity. Go MUNI. Raise the fares for the first time in a decade and they still don’t run my line even close to enough. I barely got on the third train for my route. Only today. Normally it would take 50 minutes from the dealership; it took me an hour and a half to get home.

Im going to watch Blade Runner now.
no goofball

My dad owned an airline consolidator back in the days. So to enable me to get benefits, they applied me for membership with IATA.

I have not heard back from the interview yet from the competitor company. Not a good sign. It is likely that they've passed me up for the job. owell. I'm giving it another week.

And everyone, I need to know the definite committment to GENCON anaheim. Unless no one is interested in the discount for the hotel. I don't want to book a room and have to cancel, which actually wouldnt be too hard. However, I just wanted to get some definites or nays. Don't avoid the issue fellas. Blog it.

Jael
After a long and arduous application process, I now am a member of IATA organization.

Jael- is this a new job? Im sorry dude- been out of it lately, and i remembered your post. Is this "the call" you had been waiting for?

Piggin' Out!

Some friends took me to the House of Blues Gospel Brunch for my birthday this morning. It was pretty cool- cool music and everything (although a little preachy) and the food was pretty killer. I was SO fucking full. I had chicken in a bunch of different forms, BACON!!! (like 10 pieces), all kinds of deserts and biscuits and waffles and frikkin turkey. UGGGHHH. It was all good - way better than anything u'd get at a Soup Plantation kind of place. BUT, i SO over-ate. UGHH!!! Also, i literally had about 10 Mamosas (orange juice and champaign.) It was fun as hell, but i had to take the biggest No. 2 in awhile.

Happy Birthday Jon! I missed it- sounds like you had a good time at the con, so thats cooL!

All that talk about your car problems, ENRON, is making me nervous about getting a new used car myself. I got $2400 from my insurance- what do u guys suggest? I looked at the recycler, and there's plenty of cars in that price range, but this is a serious buy and i wanna becareful. Comeon- what kind of car should i buy?

alright- gotta shit some more.

Blog Ass

I changed everyone's image name to their name capitalized, and also added an image with their first name from their profile as well, ie Deaf, Ja, Myke mike, etc. This seems to have solved it. I jsut added yours tonight Enron, thats why the slight confusion. Yeah. Something strange, but I guess its a free service, so I'll work around it!

Have 4 tiles finished and 2 squads for both the Krauts and the Yanks. Been playing little games. FUN! However, now I need to find out how to store/transport these things.... some sort of frame or something I'm thinking...
Elusive...

I refreshed a couple times and then my images names returned to Aaron.jpg. It seems very intermittent.

K BUB I
Elrock... Here is a bit of info to help you out.

The past couple of times I have entered in the Blog, all my other pictures revert to "Deaf.jpg", but the newest post goes to "Aaron.jpg". I changed my nickname in my Blog preferences to Aaron a number of posts ago. However my First Name is Deaf in the preferences. I hope this helps you debug the problem.

Yo Joe!
Hmmmm
I win!

So I finally broke down and bought new tires for my car. I have been avoiding doing this for the past 15K miles. The previous pair supposedly had an uneven wear pattern as a result of a period when my car was misaligned (Thank the Honda dealership in Torrance for that). I had the car realigned a long time back and the noise was still there. I brought it in to the dealership and they said it was the tires. I brought it to my tire store and they were not sure what it was, but they did agree that at least two of the tires may or may not be making the noise. Well I started thinking to myself, someone is full of shit. The tires just did not have enough abberation in the wear to create that much noise. I took it back to the dealship, same response. So I said fuck it, its just noise and I will deal with it when I have some money. Later, on two other occasions I brought the car into the dealership up here and got the same response, it is the tires. At this point I am starting to cave in to the idea that I have to buy new tires. So I take it to the tire place and they said it could very well be the tires. So after spending hundreds of dollars on new tires/alignment when my old ones probably had 10k left on them, one would think all was well. Nope. I win the Ass prize. Same fucking sound. Over the past 2K miles it has been getting worse and worse. Well now I am out a bunch of money for tires I didnt need AND I have to go back to the dealship and tell them they are a bunch of id-jiots. Nothing is worse than lazy people that are not willing to try a little troubleshooting. It makes me wonder, what the hell is the point of having a new car if it sounds like Sean O'Donnell is making whisky shakes in my back seat? I could have been driving my No Ka Oi piece of shit and had less noise and frustration. ANyway, my original belief is that it is the bearings, now I am even more convinced of my own logic. Go Go Gadget take it in the ass!

Automotive Repars Bite

Done Elrock

I think I am finally going to break down and buy some tyres. Dont really want to spend the money, but they are getting bad. Suck.

Random moment of the con, or shortly before it: Johnny gave Aimey a Guitar. THree cheers to Mr JaEl.

Ah yes, my tiredumentary

Welcome back Professor Motorbike! It's nice to hear from you again. In honor of your return, I will spell "theater" as "theatre" in this post!

I am beat, is what I am. I worked 6 hours of OT. It wasn't so bad because we're working on this pretty cool set... for this cancelled-after-ten-episodes show called "Firefly" by the Buffy guy. It's basically a Western in space. Sounds weird, is good. People talk funny, fly spaceships, and shoot often. It's not such a bad project to work lots of overtime on.

I just deleted a really boring paragraph about watching Two Towers, so thank me for that.

I have read all of the Arcana Unearthed rules except for the spells. That's the first complete game book I've read in a long, long time. Next up: the gazeteer for the game world.

My other favorite con moment was the conception of the Pop Hat... the hat with Jiffy Pop in it so that as you walk in the sun, it inflates into a top hat! And then when you doff your hat to the ladies, you also offer them popcorn!
