ElrOxOr: Yeah we should have a few for my Bday at der Khawn. The first to hit 30. Stale. When last we spoke with Myke, early december was out side of his scope. He did not think he would be in the states. I would love to try out the CoC CCG. I like CoC genre games.
Ja El: What'chu you talkin' bout Wilibus? Fight to the death? Sunday. Ill have to miss out on that. Most likely I will be on the road to go back to SF.
Ry: Maybe we should try and get an inititive to get the Western costal states to suceed from the union. Stupid Bush.

In the Land of Rice-A-Roni
I guess I haven't been too forthcoming about my SF experiences so far. I basically spent the first week of October doing absolutely nothing job- or apartment-related. In other words, it was purely a vacation. I spent tons of time walking around, going to random restaurants, lamenting that I have to do all my cooking with a microwave/toaster oven, and befriending cats.
In my second and third weeks I slowly started apartment-searching. I also got one job interview, but decided not to attend when I realized that maybe I don't want to do 60 hours a week in a dead-end job anymore. I'd much rather consistently work 40 hours in a dead-end job and spend the other 20 hours learning how to do something awesome. So I'm spending some time learning Java, with an eye towards learning J2ME (mobile version of Java).
I guess I posted about some of my apartment-searching adventures. I found two places I liked, but both fell through. So, the last week and a half has been a bit of a scramble, but I finally have found a nice place. I'm living with a young married couple and an IT dude who spends a few nights a week out of town. There's also a parapalegic cat. It seems like a good situation... the roommates seem nice, and I'm really happy with the room (walls could use a coat of paint, though).
I haven't been job searching so much because I've been so preoccupied with apartment-hunting, obsessing about iMacs, watching Freaks & Geeks, leashing cats to poles, waiting with Aaron in parking lots, reading about punk rock, taking big shits in a shallow toilet, and perfecting the art of toasted ham sandwiches.
I've been reading a fair amount, too. Current books, in case you're really interested:

Hmm.. that may very well put a damper on attendance. Although, you gotta figure most kiddies are done by 9pm or so, I'd imagine. Maybe we'll just have to play it by ear I guess.
BTW.. you fellas see where Dick Cheney actually said he thought people would look back and view our operations in Afghanistan and Iraq as "brilliant" ?

Another Sunday Sans DM
- Tonight is bad for me because I am moving crap between houses today and tonight. I think I can swing tomorrow, but don't know the time, I will try 9pm or so.
- You can play Ticket to Ride online now at daysofwonder.com, haven't done it yet, just bought my copy of the game today, check it out though!
- Denis: Are you still coming to GenCon with your current work schedule? Please say yes. I need a full-time attendant to play Blood Bowl with and The CoC Card Game!

- Isn't your birthday coming up Enron? Let's have a little 30th BDay-fest at GenCon! Nothing too special, just some beer and some games, and maybe the return of the beer bong, but something! I have the perfect gift for you, already bought it, so don't even sweat it.... seriously, you'll like it. It's not like a poo in a box all wrapped up or anything.

Hey guys--what do you say we get together either tonight (anytime tonight) or, if tomorrow, then a little earlier? (Starting anytime up until about five-six, maybe?) I think I'd be cheating myself if I didn't go check out the wild n' crazy Castro district on my first Halloween in SF.
Anyway, if you guys are down for that, I can run some more Bramblewood Keep. If only tomorrow night works for you guys, it is real real easy to DM a game and someone else could pick up the job while I cavort with the gays.
Eric--I bet the reason you couldn't make anything but fighters was that you were inadvertantly trying to import characters with expansion spells or equipment into Johnny's non-expansion game.

Florida ballots go missing
Associated Press FORT LAUDERDALE (Florida), Oct. 28. —
Tens of thousands of postal ballots have gone missing in Florida, sparking concern over irregularities in the poll campaign. Poll officials here are questioning how many of a batch of 58,000 absentee ballots reached voters who requested them more than two weeks ago. State police investigated but found no criminal violations. Hundreds of people have called Broward County elections office to complain that they never got their ballots. The phone system was so overwhelmed that some frustrated voters could not get through. The county election office said the problem involved ballots mailed on 7-8 October, though the number of those actually missing was uncertain. Some absentee ballots mailed on those dates have already been returned to be counted. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said it investigated and found no criminal violations. The county blamed the U.S. Postal Service. “That is something beyond our control,” deputy supervisor of elections Ms Gisela Salas said.
On another note... Team America is a GREAT movie. I strongly suggest it. It was pretty funny from top to bottom.

Hooters is pretty bunk. They are really suspensive too for what they serve. Sorry ten dollars for a burger fries and a coke before tip sucks ass. ALthough we did have a great experience at Hooters in Milwaukee at the first GenCon. Five young strapping guys show up there and order diet cokes and salads all around. What a bunch of dorks. RULE!
fArt: Ummm.. heres the skinny on this Con. Not the same deal as the old school ones. Con starts on the 2nd (Thursday) and ends on the 5th (Sunday). So coming down Friday night would entail Saturday gaming and a few hours in the morning on Sunday.
Elrox: Ummm I would love Towb of Horrors. Perhaps you could do an adaptation though called Tomb of Whores and we can roll-hoff to see who gets what woman pregnant with what number of children. Ick.. That was the creepiest game ever. What a sleezy DM. Anyway I would like any RPG'n, I like the Idea of tournies. I also think we need to do the Living Dungeon again. that was coolio. Lemme think some mo.

i went to hooters for the first time in my life tonight - pretty let down. was still fun - the beer was flowing and my red sox fan-friends were hootin' and hollerin - the hooter girls were alright, but i think i hyped it in my mind like it was gonna be a trip to Big Eds - nah. Still, it wasn't as disgusting and/or disturbing as i thought it might be.

Con-Queso?
Ok.. question about the Con dates. Aparently, I have an infant-parent class on December 3rd which is that Friday. If I was to fly down either later Friday night, probably arriving around midnight or so.. would I stay through Monday and come back to SeaTac on Monday night? I seem to remember our big Con going through Monday but that was the Labor Day Con.. so I have no idea if this one is similarly arranged. If not, at least I could maybe stay Saturday and Sunday and fly out Monday morning or.. yeah. Anyway..
I miiiight be able to swing that if so.

Gen Con Special Events
Anyone have an idea for a fun event or happening we should run for ourselves? What does anyone want to play as a group? My ideas:
- Blood Bowl Tournament. Between Denis, Jael and I we have human, orc, dwarf, halfling, wood elf, pro elf, and an almost painted lizardman, so we could all play if there is interest. Or if we have wireless internet access, we could do a FUMBBL tourney.
- A mega-killer dungeon crawl a-la Tomb of Horrors or some such nonsense.
- World's Largest Dungeon could be run all weekend long whenever there is interest.
- Mega 6 player Memoir '44 with two boards!
- Chug! the OFFICIAL version of the made-up version from last year that had me doing two beer bongs in a row....
I guess what I am getting at is that it would be fun to have something to prepare for, or plan for, or something like that. Something that would make this GenCon particularly fun! Ideas?

Always copy your text
I always do a "select all" and copy before submitting to blogger, it has its moments where it send the post to oblivion and it is easy to resend if the text is all copied. It's a good practice to get into.
We have a room booked with a check in on Thursday the 2nd and checkout sunday the 5th at the Marriott hotel adjacent to the convention center, hooray! Where did we stay last time? I know the Hilton was across the street, and there was something next to the Hilton, which must be the Marriott, were we at the Hyatt? I can't remember...
Anyhoo, we are locked and loaded, so at the very least Enron, Jael and I will party like rockstars, and I'm sure Denis can be persuaded to stay the duration, and we are just waiting on the remaining fence-sitters to chime it!
This con will probably feature more gaming and less double-laptop porn displays, less beer-bonging and less lapdances and ATM visits to finance said lapdances... unless there is a vote suggesting otherwise....
