Well, the family just sprang for DSL, so I've been having a jolly old time rediscovering the Internet. Now I can finally check out all those links you guys post!
These are depressing times. Some chick at work sent an email around containing a link to a bunch of screen captures from the Nicholas Berg beheading.

I hate the new Blog format
Now, new and improved clunky. Why can't they just leave the old design alone. It worked fine. ANyway...
Elrock, I feel the same way fromtime to time. I find that read the news can be a bit of an ambiguous event. On one end, I really want to know what is going on, but sometimes when I do I just wish I hadnt found out. Ignorance is truly bliss. Certainly, there is a huge parallel between the cold war and the war on terrorism and the direct effects upon our liberties. I really dont see any of these things changing soon either. The entire political arena is way off base of what it should be concentrated on. Like improving foreign policy and making allies, not more enemies. We have plenty of those. Right now, I think issues at home are much more important then the self-righteous acts of 'liberation' (read defending oil interests). But who is listening? Not the politicians in power. It will take time but eventually the American public will wake up and smell the coffee. Democracy works, you just have to motivate the public and get them to the polls.
Stupid Florida. stupid south. stupid mid-west. stupid church.

F This Country's Gov't
A quote from the father of the beheaded US civilian in Iraq:
The interviewer asked, "Do you really blame Donald Rumsfeld for your son's death? And will you do anything in addition to that lawsuit you had filed?"
Michael Berg responded, "It goes further than Donald Rumsfeld. It's the whole Patriot Act, it's the whole feeling of this country that rights don't matter anymore because there are terrorists about.
"Well, in my opinion 'terrorist' is just another word like 'communist' or 'witch,' and it's a witch hunt, and this whole administration is just representing something that is not America, not the America I grew up in."
I'm having a bit of a black moment right now and feel like moving to Canada tomorrow.
Cheers.
PS I don't like our government.

Yesterday I was at this fair in Little Tokyo for about six hours. There were tons and tons of cute, college-age girls. For me, looking at cute girls really starts to suck after a while! It's like eating too much candy... eventually I start feeling sort of sick to my stomach. Does that happen to anyone else?

Supersize Me
So I finally went to see Supersize Me. Pretty darn good. Not that much of the information in the movie was unknown to me, but it is still pretty eyeopening. In case you don't know about the movie, this guy decided to go on a month long diet of McDonald's food only. Three 'squares' a day. Man is it epic. As a touch of irony Aimey and I went to KK Karl's before the movie for what will probably be our last Fast Food for a bit. As a topper they play Rock-n-Roll McDonald's by Wesley Willis dick fit in your mouth at one point in the film.
Jon: Speaking of Documentaries I found one I think you would be very interested in. I dont know when it will make it to a screen in LA, their website was useless (www.saltonseadoc.com), but keep an eye out for it. Anyway it is called Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea. There is a review of it here. Check it out it sounds interesting.

More Juice
Yeah the US Army survival manual is a great item for a someone that might find themselves in a desperate situation. A lot of info on how to survive in the various climates and terrains. Eevrything from forests, jungles, deserts. How to find food, water, make appropriate shelters. Etc.. Pretty cool. Nice to know if you camp/hike.
Yeah the Queue auto reorder thing is pretty good. Without it, the queue would be unmanageable.
The senate committe was much more critical than the house. I was hoping the house would grill him more, but thy havent. Its still going on. Has been for a few hours. Both the House and Senate are calling for more far reaching charges than just the couple of seargents and privates that are being charged now. Just how far it goes up the ladder will be interesting. From what I understand, by far the worst images have yet to be released. Great. Just what we need.
Off to see the wizard

The US Army survival manual, huh?
I'm halfway through the second book of Game of Thrones and still liking it. Last weekend we tried the board game. I enjoyed it, I'm not sure about the others. (Well, Laurie I know about:
[after she made some tactical mistake]
JON: Well, maybe next time.
LAURIE: I'm not playing this game ever again.)
With the queue, when I first got it I thought that if you reordered your queue, you had to manually change the order of every single movie. It was a happy day for me when I realized that I could just put something at 3 and the queue would automatically figure out that everything else should be 4, 5, etc.. Computers, so wonderful!
Rumsfeld is a fucker.

Yeah I am over the whole laundry thing now. Still it bothers me that some people value their time so much but care so little for others. Ahh yes the Me complex so many people seem to have.
I think I am going to have to catch the Kill Bill thing. Although I will probably wait until they come out on DVD @ Netflix. Just add it to my Queue. You know everytime I go in to my Netflix account I look at the Queue Aimey has stockpilled and I get frustrated and give up. She has 98 DVD's in it. She tells me to put my movies in the list where ever, but I just look at it and say, forget it. Too much work. Now is that lazy or what? And no it is nothing like my book theory problem. Which Ayn Rand personally cured for me. Right now, I am reading The History of the Second World War. That book is really cool, but it is going to take me forever to read. SO I have been on/off reading that one with others intermingled (A Game of Thrones and the US Army Survival Manual). See I am cured Jon.
I hope they crucify Rumsfield

Yeah, I'm fairly intolerant of people that don't move their laundry. What's up with that? I give people 5 minutes. After that, their laundry gets moved. Being inconsiderate with public facilities is shitty.
I saw Kill Bill 2 again last night, this time with my madre. (She liked it.) The funny thing is that it turns out to be a strangely appropriate Mother's Day movie.

Laundry Fun!
/* Start Gripe
I like the part where Batman punches the Joker into the apple sauce. No seriously, I hate my laundry room here. we have 10 washers and 10 dryers. I go down there after my wash is done and there are 2 dryers out of order, 5 dryers with dry clothes and 3 more are being used. 15 minutes later, still no one has shown up to claim their dry clothes. Meanwhile another guy gave up and carried his wet clothes to another laundry room in another building. I get peeved and move the dry clothes to the out of order dryers and start my loads. SO what happens, 10 minutes later some lady comes in and I show her where her stuff is. She starts giving me guff about moving the goods. Man people suck sometimes. At least the second person that came in didnt have a problem with it. Its not like I threw the clothes on the floor.
End Gripe */
